Need to suck on that Disney teat after all those failures that almost ruined your career eh Depp?

Well the last movie pretty much killed my interest so nothing could possibly be worse than On Stranger's Tides. And I liked At World's End, at least that movie was a specticle.

But hey this movie has Javier Bardem :D

Back to gross ocean zombies, huh?

Oh well. I never pay when I go to the movies, I have family for that, so there's a good chance I'll be seeing this.

The Gimmick here is that the cursed crew in this movie basically are people that lost their body parts making them look like zombies (that one pirate that basically lost the upper half of his head and only his lower mouth and neck remains.) and the all look like corpses that were drowned in the ocean.

Eh quite the step down, the Skeletons is Classic Pirate imagry, the sea creature Crew of Davy Jones is some Lovecraftian Horror Show. To Drowned Zombies.

Also having a Pirates movie where they tackle straight up Lovecraft would be interesting, Jack Sparrow explores R'lyeh and tackles C'thulu and the Deep Ones.

Jack Sparrow's "Old Nemesis" huh? 1. I thought every villain already was his "old nemesis". 2. How likely is it eventually a Jack Sparrow prequel movie -series- happens, since every film is mostly motivated by things that happened to him before.

Seems like they are stuck with a curse of reheating old tricks, but judging by the response of the trailer so are their fans.
I did like Pirates the first 3 times, then things were best left alone.

The 4th movie had mermaids in it, otherwise the franchise is rather meh.

And then Johnny Depps's stardom has rather plummeted recently, so, again, meh.

I only find it funny how that zombie pirate captain said please. They're pirate! They can do whatever they want!

But is there anything more unnerving than a pirate saying 'please'?

Yeah...I'm not sold.

It seems to be a combination of the first film (undead pirates) with the second (antagonist specifically seeking out Jack). Which might seem like a good thing - certainly I think the first two films are good, while the next two are just okay (in order of quality, it's gone 1>2>3>4), but...well, see said order of quality. If this film can buck the trend by emulating previous good films, does that make it good on its own? Certainly didn't for The Force Awakens.

Also the sense that the series never needed a sequel, and certainly didn't need to be continued after the third film, but hey, whatever.

Nice effect on the hair, simulating a submerged body was a cool idea. Adds an almost tangible supernatural aura to the pirates.

I really liked the first movie, and the visuals in the rest of them have been really amazing.

Makes me want to watch the first one again, actually. It's been a while.

I like the look of the Ghosts, but "evil pirates have a personal beef with Jack Sparrow" is something that has already been done in practically every movie. How about a movie in which Jack (or better yet, a new protagonist) doesn't already know them?

So we're back to the "zombie pirates" thing? Eh, interesting take on the concept, though. (Plus the skull and crossbones in the new logo looks pretty badass. Bet it would make a great tattoo...)

Not sure if I'll see it though. The last Pirates of the Caribbean movie I saw was "At World's End". I don't care what anyone says, I liked that movie, so shove off!

It's weird. I keep thinking I should like these movies, but somehow it just isn't doing it for me anymore. I liked the first two, the 3rd was rather a disappointment(and a massive convoluted mess) and I watched the 4th because someone gave me the DVD. I love the idea of Pirate Fantasy but this....this isn't it.

Reading the book "On Stranger Tides" just made it worse, thinking back to what the 4th movie could have been.

Lighting is shit, actors don't look the part, more cliche' crap. Looks great.
