I'm now sold on a 360. I am only really missing out on LBP and MGS4. Now all I need is money. Tekken was a fun series I enjoyed playing at my friends houses. I am not a fan of the PlayStation controller but the series itself had some fun modes and interesting characters. With a multi-platform release it reaches the widest audience possible, which can only be a good thing for the developers trying to profit off of their work.
You are going to suck, PS3 controller>360 controller for fighters. The d-pad on the ps3 is just superior.
That's like saying the 360 controller is better than the ps3 for guitar hero. It might just be... but it's still a retarded way to play. Arcade stick all the way.
I could never get the hang of those, probably because my right hand is really no good. I wish the sticks on the default controllers were as good as the ones on arcade sticks.

I'm really surprised this series is still going at all. It lacks the jovial ridiculousness of Soul Calibur, the technical complexity of VF, and the nostalgic appeal of SF. What am I missing here?

For me, and I'm willing to admit I'm probably just being a crank, the Tekken series begins with Tekken 2 and ends with Tekken 3. Still, I'd be interested to know what continues to make this series appealing three iterations later.
You know, my adoration is mostly becaue it has a nice *mix* of moderate technical complexity, ridiculousness and realism. All slowed down a bit more than other fighters to reduce the level of button bashing and make the whole thing a high-skill tactical game.

Anyway, my main question to you is; what about tag? I just ask because I absolutely loved it, as do many of my gaming pals. Actually my favourite of the series. But a lot of people on this board are really uninterested. Have you ever given it a shot? Anyone else here given it a shot and been disapointed?

I do think its a slightly dumb idea, as the 360 is essentially shit for Fighting games (among others genres). And Tekken is one of the most high-precision fighters to do well in, it would seem that the whole thing is setting up for a vastly inferior port, triply so when you realise the game was designed on the Ps3 for the arcade version.
Can you two tell me how the xbox 360 (and controller) are crap for fighting games? All controllers are essentially the same thing! It's the pot calling the kettle black!

How are people gonna play Tekken with the X360 controller's d-pad?

I tried playing a beat-em-up with the analogue stick a while ago and it all ended in tears.
The same way they play SoulCalibur 4 and Virta Fighter 5 : with their hands.

If they start including the content from Tekken 6 Bloodline Rebellion on the PSN or start making a PS3 version of that game like a limited edition or something, That's fine. The joypad for the 360 doesn't work well for fighters at all.

Indigo> Tekken, high-precision ? I'm laughing so hard right now...

Anyway the stick being too imprecise ? Now seriously I always hated the PS controller for its cross, hard, unresponsive, imprecise, while on the Dreamcast I had no problem at all...
Why, to play a 2D fighting game on my PS2 I decided to resort almost exclusively to my SF 15th Anniversary control pads (except for games like DBZ Budokai, DBZ Sparking! and Kenichi).

I seriously bless video game developers for taking analog sticks into account when esigning fighting game controls, and if you can't play VF5 on a 360 controller then something must be wrong, because it's seriously easy to handle, contrary to the classic Xbox pads (not the S-pads) which were mainly a catastrophe for this purpose (otherwise I liked them a lot)...

Personally I cant wait, I love the series (except T4 naturally).

So which version of T6 is the 360 getting? I hoping for Bloodline rebellion as it would be more balanced, since not only do they add items and characters, they also tweek moves so they are not as exploitable.

As for the whole joypad thing, yeah it will be very hard to play on a 360 pad, but luckily enough I have a Hori stick so nerrr! :p

don't worry about indigo, you can bet on any thread where 360 is held in some good light, or PS3 is being trashed, he'll be there to spout some rhetoric for you.

Am I the only one who thinks the loss of system exsclusives is good for gamers all around and should really not play a part in what system we own/support? I mean, let the developers fight over that shit... we only gain from their bickering.

I have no idea why this would rile up Playstation 3 owners, you still get the darn game. It's not jumping ship at all, it'll just be released on another system so more gamers will be able to play it. I think people these days need to realize that big 3rd party releases aren't always going to be guaranteed to stay on your respective console. Get over that, and you'll be a happy chappy.

I'm afraid people just can't be happy with what they have and leave it at that, they have to rag on the person who owns something different so they can satisfy themselves with their own purchase. God forbid if what was coming to them exclusively becomes multiplatform, I've heard of people boycotting games outright for this reason. Jeez, are people really this offended over a game? I remember when this used to be a fun past time, not a battleground. To be fair, fanboyism exists everywhere.

I too wonder which version of the game the 360 will get, hopefully it has a stable online and decent lobby system.

My only problem with this is the possibility of the ps3 version being a 360 port. That would suck, and then suck some more. I'd like some games on the ps3 that look and feel like they were meant to be there.
This will not be the case.

The arcade system Tekken 6 runs on is the System 357, which is a juiced up PS3. A home console version of that will be pretty straightforward. It's the 360 version that'll be the port.

With that being in mind, I don't believe for a second that the version of Tekken 6 on the 360 will be any different from the PS3 version. It makes no sense from any standpoint.

It does from the standpoint of throwing the loyal playstation fans a bone.
How many PS3 players do really care whether their games are on the other console?

I mean, aside from the vocal internet bunch screaming about it. And possibly Sony execs.
I could care less whether there's cross-platforming or not. I just want my games, kthnx. These delays are pissing me off. >|

Meh, a boring fighter that I wouldn't have bought for the PS3 (if I owned one) and still won't buy for the 360. Honestly, unless you're a huge Tekken fan this announcement is completely underwhelming. Especially while DOA is still running as the 360's main fighter.

Well, to be fair, Tekken is known for two things:
1) retarded just frames
2) retardedly long comboes

Tekken 6 especially has these obscenely long comboes called "death comboes" that basically let you lift the opponent into the air and juggle them to death. The opponent is unable to do anything during those. I'm not sure what they've done to BR since I haven't kept tabs on the Tekken community, but I'm pretty sure they haven't changed the game much. Tekken is basically long juggles.
