First of all, I am a huge tekken fan - I more or less grew up with the series.. iv heard all the slags about it being a button masher already (and frankly, the people that say that just dont understand it / probably suck at it)

anyhoo.. I adored tekken 5, but by the time 6 rolled around, I started to feel the roster was getting a bit ridiculous.. none of the new characters captured my imagination (i get the feeling zafira would be great, if mastered, but still..) migel, with all his shoulder barges and overhand fists, just felt like a cross between marduk and king, and im sicked of being gimped by alisa players online..
I like to be at least competent with all the characters (as im sure most tekken fans do), and i feel like the less playable characters there are, the more character, or "personality", they each have - having all these new characters with no real style of their own, takes away from the game a little i feel.

this new character, coming in in tekken tag 2
just feels like a direct rip of the DOA female luchador character (and we already have a luchador- king!).. although people are hinting that its actually julia, which would be pretty cool

Anyway, to cut a long rant short, id like to see a tekken 3 approach to new games, where they get rid of old characters (like jun from tekken 2,) or replace some with very similar ones (like baek to hwoarang)

also, just a couple of ideas iv been toying with

1. create a character! - given the level of customisation they are bringing in it wouldnt be hard.. its choosing their moves id enjoy - a points system would be cool for this; "gimpy" moves like kazuya's roundhouse or lee's down o o o o would be quite expensive, but weaker or slower moves would be cheap.. you could unlock points to spend on new moves etc by playing arcade or whatever (and what game hasnt been improved by having rpg elements!? :p)

2. weapons mode? i thought of this while thinking about the character thing- what if you wanted your character to have some of yoshi's sword moves? also when jin fights yoshi in the tekken live action movie (not unwatchable btw), he uses a glaive.. why no have an extra mode where all characters use weapons- soul calibre style? :p hell, they all already have custom weapons in tekken 6..

Ahhh!!!! I forgot that they were releasing a Tag 2!!!! Tekken Tag Tournament was the reason that I fell in love with the series in the first place and still remains the best game in the series. Now I need to get my hands on a PS3... The Xbox is no place for the King of the Iron Fist Tournament!!

sweet I love tekken tag. Idk about the roster so long as they keep some form of king and keep yoshimitsu. Lei could use a buff too he's so wimpy but so crazy fun :(

Tekken Tag was great, but I can't help feeling like TTT2 won't recapture that spark. I like the Tekken series, but it hasn't done anything new graphics or gameplay-wise in a while.

some of the new combos featuring 2 people look badass, but bounds are irritating enough as it is (well, to be on the receiving end anyway :p) having them extended by another character would add a lot to my rage factor..

graphics were obviously improved during the jump to next gen, as for gameplay- what do you expect? its a beat em up! the rage system is a nice addition i think..

and @gxas- yeah i agree, the xbox controller does not suit tekken :(

also, sort out the resolution namco! the text is all but unreadable unless you have a huge HD television..

Oh, one character I would like to see - if law is bruce lee, we need a tony jaa!.. crossed with a bit of Zen from the movie chocolate (who would have thought autistic girls could kick so much ass? :p )

Thing is with rosters is there is only so many ideas you can throw in really, look at all the Street Fighter characters that use the Dragon Punch or are in some way related/rivaled/trained with Ryu?

Once you've done your wrestlers, your Hong Kong clones, samurai and typical street brawlers, the pot starts to get empty.

On the other hand people would rather have *too* much choice than only having 8 characters to choose from and fight against. I would expect that unless you were heavily devoted to the game that you'd focus on 3 characters max anyway but as much as I like Tekken (favour #5) it is getting to the point where its the same damn game with the same damn mechanics each time.

God of War is a perfect example of stubbon unchanging-ness, but at least theres only 3 (main) ones not 7.

funny, thats the exact game i was thinking of!

but even COD, which everyone seems to cream over, is still essentially the same game.. fair point with there being 7 tekkens though..

Let me guess....even more juggling...the return of all those wacky characters "everybody loves so much" (Gon, Alex/ Roger, Panda/ Kuma) and a non-human oversized boss.

I wonder when Namco will feel the urge to "return to its roots"....bringing out a game called "Tekken" with a moderate roster (16-24) ditching the wacky characters and including a human boss.

Oh and maybe letting Heihachi die already? The geezer has been old since Tekken 3 dammit...what is he munching on stem cells or something?

my thoughts exactly :)

but then again, heihachi's dad was alive and showing no time of biting the dust anytime soon in tekken 5.. the mishima's are invincible you know :p in tekken tag 2 they seem to have gone for the youthful, original tekken heihachi..

and considering paul was like 50 in tekken 3.... although i dont think there has been much of a time gap between 3 and 6, story wise.. (opposed to the like 20 year gap between 2 and 3..)
