Well come on now give these people some credit. I doubt there are that many people here that believe Japan is the best country on Earth or whatever. But we can enjoy the awesome stuff about Japan while acknowledging and criticizing its (numerous) faults! This is a happy thread about awesome things! Light-hearted and fluffy! Surely the country's social issues relating to foreigners, women and their historical atrocities deserve a thread of their own!GunsmithKitten said:Just doing my part to shatter wapanese illusions about that assbackwards island, citizen, just doing my part.Helmholtz Watson said:Does xenophobia, harassment of tourists, and racial segregation policies that even the US abandoned back in the 20th century count?
That's nice, nobody claimed to illusions about Japan other than it has some nice things, but you know, feel free to insult all of us because we have the audacity to not be as negative as you.GunsmithKitten said:Just doing my part to shatter wapanese illusions about that assbackwards island, citizen, just doing my part.Helmholtz Watson said:Does xenophobia, harassment of tourists, and racial segregation policies that even the US abandoned back in the 20th century count?

Worst I got while visiting was being given the cold shoulder and being studiously ignored from time to time. There are certainly far worse places to travel, Rome for example while beautiful is full of cons and thieves preying on tourists. Paris also stinks and the French fully live up to their reputation of often being rude, plus there are beggars everywhere.GunsmithKitten said:Does xenophobia, harassment of tourists, and racial segregation policies that even the US abandoned back in the 20th century count?
Oy... don't get me started on how many ways I could refute you. And for reference the era of Japanese history often portrayed in popular culture, aka samurai ninja and all that, was from around 13-14thish century to the early Edo period between 1603 to 1868 AD, ending with the Meiji revolution. Samurai were around before that but its from around then that most pop culture portrayals reference from. The European middle ages stretched from the 5th to 15th century, aka 500 to 1500 AD.Prime_Hunter_H01 said:Samurai have some of the best weapons of the middle ages. Sorry knight fans.
Now if someone could inform me what the corresponding period in Japan was that was Concurrent with the middle ages.
Hell, some of the bands I posted are critical of their native culture. Especially The Stalin. Stalin is a reviled figure in Japan, and they chose the name just to piss everybody off. Also, they had an album titled "Stop Jap".GunsmithKitten said:Ehh, good point. After all, for all of their disdain and nihonjinron penor waving, they sure do love Western pop culture despite it. I guess a bit of hypocrisy on our part is justified.
I honestly can't believe how seriously you're taking this! Card based RPG? Man this game is obscure. It only has a couple videos demonsr=trating gameplay on youtube and a one sentence mention in the wikipedia article on the manga/anime it was based on! Well if this is the game then it's available for cheap on ebay and amazon used. If you want new then be prepared to shell out 130 USD cheapest. And it also doesn't come in english as it was import only. And it was indeed for the Saturn.GunsmithKitten said:Beffudled Sheep said:Was it this?GunsmithKitten said:I think it was, but have to actually see some footage before I can confirm it.Beffudled Sheep said:Why not pick it up now?GunsmithKitten said:Won't go for the usual stuff, soo....it did give me the Blueseed RPG, the absolute bestest RPG I never got to fully play and regret to this day...Beffudled Sheep said:There we goGunsmithKitten said:Ehh, good point. Like I said, even if I can't read it, I'll find a way. Maybe that crazy old international converter guy in Johnson City is still open, he seemed to be able to do when I toyed with his copy in the store...
