My Commander Shepard is male. First name, Aegix. He is a Vanguard (both games) and his style is to play it safe midrange before moving in for the kill at the first possible opening. He's a paragon at heart, but knows full well that sometimes you just need to break the rules (I take ANY advantage I can get, and like to put jerks in their place), and that sometimes it's best to just look the other way (I let jack murder that guy in her loyalty mission because I felt she needed that in order to put her past behind her). (85% Paragon, 15% Renegade)

He has a "ruthless" colonist background that shapes his whole worldview.

Spoiler: For important story stuff

The whole colonist-"ruthless" thing is important to my Shepard's "worldview" (IE, how I play him). He lived on a Colony, which was destroyed by batarians. This drove him to revenge. Which is why when he led the assault on Torfan, he plunged right in and massacred every damn batarian on the place. ...And then afterwards realized he had become in order to get his revenge. He re-evaluated his motives for fighting, and set a firm standard: "No cost is too high to save even ONE innocent life. And no mercy is too small for those who hurt innocents willfully". He still has regular nightmares of Torfan, and thus has trust issues.

He fell into a relationship with Ashley, and was keen to see where it went, searching madly for her the second he opened his eyes again. Then after Ashley's harsh response on Horizon...Well...He didn't know if he could trust her anymore, and that hurt far more than her harsh words. ...Then he re-met Tali, who he'd always seen as a close friend (After the initial annoyance had worn off). And he was impressed with how she'd grown, and ended up with her. Mostly due to her unshakable trust despite VERY good motives to hate cerberus, and the fact that although she is a competent fighter and strong-willed, she is still soft inside. He is NOT looking forward to the ensuing cat fight between Ash and Tali.

As for my decisions...
Wrex: Saved. I liked wrex. He was a good krogan. The universe needed people like him. And I don't abandon my teammates unless I have no choice.

Rachni: Saved. Everyone deserves a second chance if they are aware of their mistake and truly wish to fix it.

Virmire: Kaiden died. I mean...Love interest or other guy? Really, what do you expect?

Council: Sacrificed. That reaper needed to die right-the-!@#$-now! There was no time to spare to save a few bigwigs more concerned with their own lives than the lives of countless innocents. No regrets. Elected Anderson since udina was a total moron. When I SAY the reapers are coming, you better freakin believe me! I don't raise the alarm for nothing.

Morinth: My Paragon wasn't high enough to choose, but I would have put down Morinth ANYWAY. She's crazy, evil, psychotic and needed to be put down. She preyed willfully on the innocent for FUN. My Shepard could not let that slide.

Geth brainwashing: This was tough...But I decided to re-code the geth. I weighted the importance of being able to freely choose your path against the value of a life...and Shepard decided that it was more important that these geth LIVE to make better choices in the future. If a life could be saved, then it should be.

Collector base: Saved it. ANY small advantage we can get against the reapers is an advantage I am willing to take, no matter how risky. DEFINITELY don't trust the Illusive man, though. If he turns on me, I WILL put his ass down.

Random Crew: They all died. I needed time to prepare. Really miss the engineers, though. They were fun to talk to.

Quarians VS Geth: I cleared Tali's name by getting her friends to vouch for her. And I asked the quarians to make peace.

Tali VS Legion: I managed to break that fight up with no hurt feelings on either end. I sincerely want the Quarians and the Geth to FINALLY see eye to eye and let go of this stupid feud.

Miranda VS Jack: ...I sided with Jack. Miranda was being stupid. Jack has known nothing but suffering and hate. I managed to show her that some people really do care about her, and I managed to kindle some small flame of humanity in her. ...And then Miranda tried to undo all of that by being a total b!@#$ to her. Hell yes I feel right in telling Miranda to STFU. She had no right to say those things. Not to someone who has known nothing but pain their whole life.

My team: The first time through, Legion....didn't make it. But then I redid the mission and everyone made it. Normally, I will live with any mistakes I make, but this one was just stupid. Because of Miranda's little hissy fit with Jack, she lost loyalty to the misison. And she DEMANDED to lead the Fire team so vehemently that although I had already decided I wanted Garrus to lead, I acquiesced to her request. And she let Legion get shot. ....And as soon as I found that out, I replayed that mission but with GARRUS as the fire team leader as originally planned. And then everyone lived. And I was happy.

.........And I am looking forward to ME 3 A WHOLE FREAKIN LOT. I cannot wait to see where this goes.

However, things took an interesting swivel when she achieved a perfect score on both the rifle and sniper proficiency tests, one of a small handful of Marines to do so, and was asked to join the Special Forces, which she graciously accepted.

A few years down the line, Erika was tasked to lead a small platoon in attacking a batarian stronghold, said to be a base of operations for slavers, on the planet Torfan. What was supposed to be a swift apprehension quickly descended into a bloodbath, culminating with heavy losses to Erika's squad and the complete annihilation of the batarian resistance. She "earned" the nickname of "the Butcher of Torfan" as such; a fear-striking title that Erika certainly is not proud of having.

I am a male Shepard, I romanced Ashley and subsequently she lived on Virmire. I also Wrex also lived on Virmire. I also saved the Council, the Rachni Queen and essentially all the good options.
Come Mass Effect 2 I romanced no one*, for Ashley is the only girl for me, and everyone lived. Once again, every choice I made was paragon and nobody died in the suicide mission.

*Unless you count one minor non canon playthrough where I romanced Jack.

Once You Go Blue...: The romance from ME1 most likely to promote loyalty in ME2 was Liara. Of the sixteen who went without romance in game 2, seven were waiting for their little blue-skinned academic to come back to them. Another three were wooed by Kaidan, three thought love is for suckers, and one was waiting for Ashley. Awww.

No, really. Once you go Blue...: Of the eleven people to romance Liara in game one, only three took up a new lover in game two. Sigh. There's just no-one like her...
