Well, if you want to be serious about the name...

"Автомат Калашниковa 47" is it's proper name and what you would find written in red army equipment manifests.
But I don't have a Cyrillic keyboard D:
(Win XP) Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools -> Character Map

In there you will find a full table of characters ranging from the standard Latin all the way through Greek, Cyrillic, and even Arabic. You can use the "select" button at the bottom to build a word and then copy-paste it from the box to wherever you want it to show up. It's a long process but it can be done.

Since I'm studying Russian, however, I simply set up my computer to allow me to type in Cyrillic if I tell it to switch languages. It gets hard to remember which key is for which character sometimes, but it's easy enough to setup.

P.S. Those instructions probably count towards my O.T. I'm determined to not post in this thread unless I'm offering up more useless information. However, just in case the instructions were too useful, "Cyrillic" as an alphabet was created by a Byzantine monk named "Cyril" and his older brother "Methodius" back around 850 A.D.

A chameleon can't change into every color it wants to, and not every chameleon can change color. Most chameleons can only become darker or lighter depending on its mood. Only a few chameleons are specialized to use their color as camouflage, and even they can only change into a set amount of colors.

A sea turtle can hold its breath for 3 weeks. (A crocodile usually only an hour)

A snake's venom is actually its modified saliva, and if you take it away (for example by continuously 'milking') it wont be able to digest it's food properly.

OT: A spider does not poison you by biting you. Instead it breaks your skin with it's fangs and then drips the venom in.

Those little pink bits at the side of your eyes? Actually the remains of the third eyelid we no longer use.

Goosebumps? When we were all hairy and shit, when it was cold, it stood the hairs up on their ends to trap heat. When scared, it made us look bigger.

Know someone who can wiggle their ears? Not only could we all once, but we used to be able to completely move our ears around to detect sounds, like dogs do.

!2/12/12 12:12:12 is the last time it'll be like that on the current calendar.

I'm sure I have much more, but those 4 re the ones that immediately pop into my head.
Sir, have you been reading Cracked.com articles? Because I've learned those first 3 in one of their articles.

the term "Rule of thumb" was an actual law a long time ago, which stated that you could beat your wife with objects no wider than your thumb.

Theres an old law in West Virgina that says the legal age of consent is 100lbs...no that isn't a typo. consent is based on weight, not age in West Virgina.

Now of course this is one of those old laws that no one enforces but was never offically revoked so i'm sure if you tried to hook up with a really fat 2 year old you'd find your ass in jail.

In any version of Windows, you can't name a folder "con" unless you put spaces between the letters.
I just tried it. That. Is. Amazing. Why does it do that?
I have no idea!

It goes back to the DOS days where CON was reserved for something or other.
Dang, I just tried it and it's true!

I did some digging about this when the PS3 froze on the leap year this year.

As to why February has the leap/non-leap in it since it caught my interest. It would technically be much more handy to just put it at the final day of December.

Turns out, it was. Kinda. In the Roman days February was the 12'th month. You can verify this by translating Decem from latin, which means "ten". December was the tenth month.

Each year was pretty much 'opened' with the start of the war-season, meaning February 1st. But in a surprise move the Romans once decided to start the warseason two months earlier, in December. This kinda stuck and before they knew it, the warseason started on December from then on. This pretty much changed the calander and shoved months two in advance. Turning February in the 2nd month and December in the 12'th month.
To not destroy the calander any further (couldn't find any info on this part) they decided NOT to change the leap/non-leap feature from Februari to December.
