I love this game. Forget the RPG's and shooters. DC has the most immersive and engaging experience of any game I've played in a long, long time. And I'm getting a great workout, as an added bonus.

Mass Effect 2, it popped in to my mind immediately. I played it way more than I should have(not 30 times over though like I saw on the released stats from Bioware).

PoP: The Forgotten Sands. It may not be perfect, the story may not be fantastic, the enemies may be mostly cookie cutter clones of each other, but the fact of the matter is that I had more fun with this game than anything else this year.

Mass Effect 2. AKA "that game made by people who can actually write".

It kicked the competition in the head and left it for dead in a ditch.

This for me as well. I must have done at least seven full playthroughs by now.

starcraft 2- epic storyline, amazing multi-player, and tons of map mods (turing an rts into things like FPS's to RPG's). for GotY to go to any other game would be a shock for me

Strangely, Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands. I liked the runny-jumpy-climby aspect.

A toss up between Starcraft 2 and Mass Effect 2 for me.

Starcraft's multiplyaer is just perfect for me. The competitive scene that follows it is also fun to watch.

Mass Effect 2 has an incredible story along with good gameplay. Loved every minute of it (except mining lol)

but I still root for Bayonetta.

Shit was so crazy! I got it for my birthday at the beginning of the year, and have been playing it since, and that's after a multitude of other purchases.

Probably Starcraft 2. Of all the games released this year that I've enjoyed (ME2, SSF4, SC2) I've got by far the most play time and enjoyment out of SC2.

I liked Mass Effect 2 quite a lot, but it was still a giant letdown after the masterpiece that was the original Mass Effect. Here's hoping that Mass Effect 3 can find the right balance between Mass Effect's PERFECT RPG-elements and story, and Mass Effect 2's PERFECT gameplay. Mass Effect 2 was just a bit too dumbed down for me, and the story was only mediocre (lolcollectors).
