So weve seen a lot of threads recently on a lot of morbid issues such as body issue, mental health, being shunned for liking certain things and the obvious gender issues/sexism

So I thought id make a more positive post about what we like about ourselves. It could be a feature, a personality trait or an achievement. It can be anything

Ill start off by saying that I like how im usually very laid back, patient and upbeat. Im usually a friendly person and I get on with most people and it takes a lot to make me angry or wound up

I'd say my almost complete lack of judgmental nature. Several years ago, I used to be a bit of a prick when it came to judging people who embraced different beliefs or sub-cultures than me. After a bit of self-reflection, I ended up changing my ways and now I'm about the last person that will ever judge someone else based upon simple things. I really can't imagine myself not getting along swell with almost anyone now.

I don't know, I'm always awful at this kind of thing.

I'm just about finished my second Masters degree and I've been offered a professional position before I've even qualified, so that's kind of nice. I'm looking forward to starting my career, I've been in college for too long.
I've also lost about 30 pounds of excess pudge in the last six months so I feel a lot better about myself physically.

See, I already feel like I'm bragging, I can't do it. XD

My hair. Gods my hair is fantastic. It's so lovely styled, it's nice and naturally straight (though it can be the bane of my existence when I want to curl it. It only stays curled for an hour!) It has a lovely colour, it frames my face nicely. Gods I love my hair!

On the inside though? I'm polite. I'm very rarely rude to another person. It used to annoy me as a teenager though, when people used to say to my mother that I'm a "very proper young lady, despite growing up in the worst neighbourhood". I just like it about myself that I can show proper etiquette. I'm also very patient. I'm very kind. As a bonus, I have a degree that I'm rather proud of. Damnitall I'm jut great!

One masters degree is impressive but 2 is a real achievement. Ive got no higher education at all. I scraped through A-levels and thats about it

30 pounds is a really good loss too...well done

I dont understand why people will happily discuss their flaws but struggle to come up with anything positive

Thanks, to be fair, I didn't really have to try that hard. I had a bit of a bad year where I just sat on my arse and ate a lot so as soon as my life situation changed, I started eating better and exercising more so the extra weight came off pretty easily.

It's just one of those things, I don't think many Irish people do bragging very well.

Human nature. Say 99 positive things about a person and 1 negative and it's the negative they will remember.

I suppose thats true but I just thought with all the negative threads around here lately (mainly body image) Id try and inject some positivity.

I could go on all day but I'm pretty chuffed that my current job was advertised as looking for someone with at-least two years experience in the field, I snagged it up having done just a few weeks voluntary mornings in a similar place. That and no more than a ten minute walk from my house, ah, I love my life :-D

I made a timelapse video earlier this week which turned out pretty well for my 4th attempt ever:

And I guess I'm happy that I've got a job programming mobile apps, which starts tomorrow. Especially as it was the first job I applied for and I have a degree in a completely unrelated field.

I'm tough. I've been through more than my fair share of difficult times (largely due to my bipolar, but other stuff too), but I always come through and tend to do well in spite of everything. I've also done a lot of challenging physical stuff like hiking in the Himalayas, Iceland and Greenland, plus a whole bunch of Army Cadet training, and I can get through that without complaint, even when things get dangerous and scary. Even when my body's screaming at me to stop, my gritty determination and sheer bloody-mindedness drives me on and to excel, so I'm usually one of the strongest performing members of a team in those situations, despite being female and looking less impressive than some of the guys.

One of my fellow cadets once described me as having "the strength of an ox and the stamina of a horse". What people don't realise is that it's not so much a physical thing for me (sure, I do sometimes train but by no means always). It's overwhelmingly psychological.

I'm proud of how I've taken a generally negative trait from my childhood (stubbornness) and turned it into a positive.

[small]Good thread, OP. It's nice to have free reign to brag a little once in a while :p[/small]

I'm funny (or at least I think I am) and cheery.

I suppose some people find that annoying but co-workers come up to me and ask if I'm feeling alright if I don't have a big stupid smile on my face and attempt to make others laugh. I'd like to think I'm pretty good at it as I've gotten people on here to specifically post to say how much they laughed at some of my jokes. The only downfall to my humor is that I need something to spring-board off of so just telling jokes ala "stand-up" doesn't work but I'm quick on my feet and kind of clever in conversation.

It takes a lot to get me sad and even then, it takes a LOT to keep me sad. I'm just naturally a pretty happy and carefree fella.

Speaking of work, I also very flexible and (I try to be) hardworking. Many a jobs/projects have been assigned to me because, in the words of da bwoss, they'll get done if they go to me. It's kind of nice having that kind of reputation at work :)

Thats pretty impressive did you go do a bit of everest? How did you manage to do it. Did you do it through cadets or something?

I always think its nice to be positive and share your achievements and also acknowledge other peoples success. Im not saying we shouldnt discuss the topics I mentioned in the OP but I think we cover them too often and we should also discuss positive things more

I decided to take the more difficult road and managed to turn a lot of things around by doing so. I've found myself feeling strangely amiable and contented toward people as a result. I've been able to appreciate the little goals and build them up, until I reached the stage I'm at now. Whenever I feel weary, I can look back at how far I've managed to come already and take heart from that.

EDIT: Thank you for the positive thread. We always appreciate that sort of thing.

I'm going to pick something more colorful.

I think I'm a good audience. I go out of my way to sit down and experience something the way the creators meant it to be experienced. I don't skim through books, autopilot games, or go low alpha wave during movies. I'm always trying to find whatever gems any hard-working creator may have put in the content to experience. I also like to think I offer very constructive and thoughtful criticism.

I'm also not like most other people in that I don't often enjoy "banal" humor (for lack of a better word). I don't think it's hilarious when someone's pants fall down, just because OH LOOK A BUTT! Likewise for lots of sex jokes and other things that aren't clever and instead just rely on being taboo. I actually don't know if I'm proud of this or not, I just never found it funny. So you can imagine 80% of most comedy movies aren't funny for me while the rest of the theater is roaring. "Oh my god he just put his hands in llama poo! *gasping for breath laughing*"

Thanks! Yeah, it was a cadets thing. We didn't do Everest, sadly (afaik, you have to plan those trips years in advance now as it's so popular). We did the Baba Pass trek (not commercially like in the link though), among other things.

Definitely agreed :)

I am pretty good at sticking to a schedule, I guess. That's something. I like that about myself.

I'm basically a genius when it comes to school. I never studied and rarely did homework, but I still aced all my tests in IB courses. I'm just that good.

As for personality traits, I'm calm, good natured, and generous. It really sounds like I'm just bragging right now, but I was told not to say the bad things. I'm leaving all those out.

I probably sound vain for saying this but I liked that I still got a youthful face.... for now. I'm 27 and people still never guess my age right since they think I'm still in my early 20's or even 18 a couple of times!
