Okay, I just picked up the first episode of this game on Xbox Live. Note: I haven't read any of the Fables comic books. What's my thoughts? I really, really like this game. The response system reminds me of Alpha Protocol and the combat QTE are easy enough that they don't feel like QTE. They also work pretty well as action sequences.

I'm definitely going to be picking up the rest of these.

Anyone else played it and liked it?

(I will say, while I understand why they couldn't use the Fables title, couldn't they have come up with a better name than "The Wolf Among Us?" How about Big Bad Wolf Detective? I mean, the Wolf Among Us is not a very memorable title)

I have to disaggree "the Wolf among us" is a pretty good title for the game. Big bad wolf detective sounds like some stupid joke story and while the premise of the series may lead to a chuckle at first thought there's nothing to laugh about in the world itself. "The Wolf among us" is a dark title. And that's why it's a good one.
Btw. Welcome to the excapist.

Yeah i picked it up on steam, so the whole series in one. Mainly because of The Walking Dead and so far i am not regretting it at all.
The combat scenes and the controls in general, while being similar, are much better than in the walking dead. Much more responsive, as i said, exspecially in the combat scenes.

Another Question to everyone: What are your thoughts about the story? Who do you suspect?

Holy shit, that ending. That's just wow. I am pretty speechless. You have to have pretty giant stones as a developer to pull that off. I think Telltale's the George R.R. Martin of the game's industrie here.

On the topic of the investigation:
I am basically 100% sure, that the Woodsman didn't do it. For Faith he was just too obvious a suspect and i think it's impossible that he did Snow White, although he did excape in my playthrough, there's no way he could have done it in time.
Dee and Dumb, while i mentioned them to Snow White, i don't think their the murderers either. I don't know why, but i don't think they did it. They are a part of the whole think, though.
And the other people you could mention...
I don't know. Lawrence is dead in my game, so he couldn't have done it.
And who the hell are bluebeard and the rest. Or did i miss something in the game?

After reading the tale of bluebeard: Yeah he does sound like the perfect suspect. Aside from the paper on Bigby's desk, i don't remember him actually being in the game though.

Played it, loved it, in fact I think I like it even more than the Walking Dead, I just love the universe this is in, love the creativity of it. Gonna have to at least read some of the comics.

Now about the main suspect:

I think you're perfectly correct, it couldn't have been the Woodsman, he might be a bit of a jerk but he's not a killer. The tweedle brothers also aren't the killers but I think they are at least somehow connected to the killer, could even be their boss. Personally I don't think it was Bluebeard, allthough he does have the predisposition and the resources to pull something like this off. Personally I was betting on the pimp, until I saw Snow White dead as well. Now I mean it could still be the pimp, but it just seems like to much of a risk to kill Snow White too especially if this is just some small time thug.

All of this, I just, it feels personal, like it's not about the girls but about Bigby. As he said a message specifically for him, but until the next episode we don't really have a lot to go on.

Whoever did it made it personal for some reason and so far we haven't really seen anything of Bluebeard so I can't really point the finger at him yet. Also Bluebeard just seems like such an obvious choice, he's just too obvious a choice, I just don't buy that Bluebeard one of the richest and most powerful fables would hold a personal grudge against Bigby. I mean he has them in his back pocket, at least according to the tidbits of information the game provides us.

Yeah, I never played "The Walking Dead" but may once this is done. I think I like the extreme noir sensibility best about this game. It's more or less a straight Private Detective story from the 1930s but it has the addition of fairy tale characters. Faith and Bigby's relationship is one of the oldest tropes in the book but, gosh darnit, it works in the context of the game.

Yeah, the Woodsman is 100% not guilty as far as I'm concerned. Likewise, Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dumb look like they're trying to find out who killed one of their prostitutes. The law of diminishing cast means that I'm inclined to think that Ichabod Crane or someone we haven't met yet is the party responsible.

I'm inclined to think it's Ichabod because it's a HEADLESS individual.

Right now, I just finished the first chapter and I am currently loving it.
The system feels like it has been improved from the previous TT games of Walking Dead. (Which I can't wait to see a season two)
The setting is interesting and unique for sure, I can't wait for more of it.
And the characters and story ... well you have to play it to find out.

If anyone loved the Walking Dead game by TT it should be a buy, especially if you like fairy tales or fantasy stuff.
Now for the spoilers.

I am sure that it wasn't the Woodsman as well, I just feel that all of this cannot be him.
Also I feel like Dee and Dum are very connected and work for the people doing this, especially since they knew about the first murder ... which did not get out I think. My top suspect is Bluebeard, I don't know but I just got a bad feeling about him.

During the preview video, I cannot wait until what happens next time. :D

It was my first introduction to the Fables universe, and I was pleasantly surprised. It has enough of what I liked about The Walking Dead, but does enough differently with the concept to stand on its own.

I love the art style, and while the combat is still based on quick-time-events, I think they have more of a variant uniqueness to them than majority of The Walking Dead's button-mashing grapples ever did.

In the end I grabbed Tweedle (Dee/Dum?). The Woodsman may have deserved that axe to the head, but I don't think we've met the actual killer yet. And the brothers clearly know something.

Couldn't agree with you more OP, because I simply adored the game.

From the universe to the art style/aesthetic and awesome combat interface (way better than TWD) I can safely say that I am liking it more than TWD.

With that said I can't wait to play episode 2.

I've been waiting for this for so long. I've got most of the Fables published to date.
I really need to get this.

Also "Big Bad Wolf Detective" is probably the stupidest name for anything I have ever heard. Including this owl.

Well, I honestly read this and thought "Isn't this slightly borrowing story from the movie Hoodwinked except without singing goats?"
Haven't played it but I might pick it up, TTG has been on a roll, Back to the Future and Walking Dead (even the Jurassic Park game) have been worth buying so...

It was off the top of my head but I think "The Wolf Among Us" isn't very memorable or very easy to say. Noir Fairy Tales, Big Bad Wolf, Bigsby Wolf, and so on.

I don't like the title. I'm not enamored of my own.

But yes, great game.

Wow, I was really blown away by Wolf Among Us. Even Walking Dead wasn't as much fun as this game!

"My lips are sealed" is the catch-phrase which will matter later on. Faith said it one time, pointing at her ribbon and the Mirror said it a second time, when questioned about Faith.

I assume either Faith's pimp or someone else entirely put this spell on her to ensure secrecy. I feel there is a conspiracy going on and here comes my theory:

The ribbon on Faith's neck somehow remind me of a prized pig or a pet who has been adorned with such an item. She is treated like she is an animal... and now remember the Farm? Remember how many Fables got a problem with the Farm and hate staying at this "prison"?

Faith's head is a message. You treat us like pigs, we send you pigs' heads. You aren't much better than us.

Someone is trying to break the system and is killing Fables to spread the message.

Total Biscuit gave it a pretty glowing review as well. Said he preferred it to The Walking Dead.

I got it for the GF already (She's a big Fables fan). Makes me want it too, although I'm torn, because half of me wants it now, and half of me wants to wait until all five episodes are done.

That would make a lot of sense.

I haven't played it but that will soon change. It's really been because I've been busy lately on a lot of other things(like school and work and playing Brutal Legend(I Just got around to it)). I planned to play it regardless. My girlfriend loves and owns the comics(so I should probably read them) and I've enjoyed everything I've played from TT, especially The Walking Dead. The only thing from TT I didn't play was Jurassic Park, mostly because I heard a lot of crappy reviews about it. Apparently I'm the only one who liked their Back to the Future games.

Big Fables fan here, and I adored the first episode. It was pretty much perfect in every way, doing exactly what I wanted. Honestly, I am enjoying it much more than TWD so far (though that might just be because of my status as a Fables fan). Really looking forward to the next episodes, and very glad I picked it up. :D

I didn't even know this existed, and it sounds pretty awesome.

But is this already available on PSS in Europe, because I can't find it anywhere. But then I can't really find anything anymore on the giant shit heap the Playstation Store has become.

Wolf Among Us launches on PC and XBOX on 11. October and "several days later" on PSN. No hard date for you, but it shouldn't take too long before you will be able to experience it for yourself.

Thanks!

Sometimes I think I'm going crazy trying to find anything on PSS.
