So, on one hand, this looks cool. OTOH, I'm not sure I'm happy about overwriting the GOOD two movies(the first two).

And we're pretty much at a point that the timeline is a giant, Dr. Who style mess which needs a very large flow chart to keep track of(and I didn't even watch the TV series, so I don't know how bad the timeline is messed up).

I don't mind old movies being rebooted, and while the trailer is a mess, I kind of like it. Then again, I don't have the best taste in movies. I really like the Mother of Connors, too. I've been wanting to see her in something other than Game of Thrones.

So.........they send Kyle Reese back to protect Sarah but because of time travel shenanigans the timeline is broke and there's already a terminator protecting Sarah because Arnie?

Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay..............seriously though, Emilia Clarke can't do a decent "Come with me if you want to live".

But...Matt Smith.

Yeah, I don't believe it either.

Such a damn shame to see him fall to far.

Looks pretty shitty. Why does everything have to be so shiny and glossy these days? A lot of what made the original so damn cool was how dirty, gritty and dark it was. It had a very strong atmosphere (and the 'future war' scenes in the original were vastly superior to Salvation because of that).

Meh.

Okay, after watching the trailer i have but one question: why is it subtitled genisys rather than genesis?
When i noticed the y in genesis i thought it must have just been thought up by unbelievable cretins who think misspelling stuff makes it sound cool and unique. But after noticing that it is genisys rather than genesys it just makes me think that two incorrect letters seems too misspelled for that type of thing. As someone fairly ignorant of the terminator canon, does this have any further meaning? Or is it exactly as stupid as i first thought?

It's a computer acronym.

I feel bad for them because people don't get the reference and keep on thinking it's stupid, when this is probably one of the smartest movie titles in recent years. It's a case of being too smart for your audiance here I think.

I'm seriously not joking. My captcha is skynet watches. I am never going to get a captcha as perfect as this ever again, that is crazy.
I did see the sys part in it, i'm just not sure what the geni part is all about.

OK, so from what I gather, this is a sequel to the first two/four films (depending on whether you're anal enough to discount T3 and Salvation or not).

Only it then says "What happens if, after sending Kyle Reese back in time to protect Sarah Conner, the rebellion then figured out a way to send a reprogammed Terminator back even further so that it arrived when Sarah was just a kid and could protect/train her against the one sent to kill her?"

That... that actually sounds pretty interesting.

I don't necessarily mind a movie getting sequels over and over and over. But at least try to pretend like there's a semblance of progress. EVERY Terminator movie is about "trying to stop Judgment Day". Every. Fucking. Movie. Let's stop Judgment Day, let's stop Judgment Day. And they never do, obviously, because these movies keep happening. But they never outright fail either, for the same reason. It's the most vanilla-flavored Judgment Day ever. Oh my god you can't stop it! But it's okay, you have an infinite amount of tries all the same.

Whatever. I'll be at my porch.

I think it's less a case of "being too smart" and more a case of "looking too stupid." But at least it isn't Terminator: Resurrection.

Honestly, as much hate as Salvation got, I kind of would have preferred to see that timeline get continued. Maybe with more focus on John Connor being a leader and less fanfiction revolving around the special snowflake human robot.

I didn't think Salvation was at bad a film, it doesn't deserve all the hate it gets. It's miles better than T3, which was just a lame remake of T2 with a younger age restriction. With Salvation we finally moved out of the present day and it's increasingly ridiculous time travel plots. We finally got to see the world post-Judgement Day, after all those small glimpses in previous films, which I was glad about. It was the logical next step for the franchise and, despite the stand in cameo, proved that the Terminator films could move on without Arnie.

I too would rather have seen the Salvation timeline get continued into the trilogy it was supposed to become. I think that the next film would've focussed more on John Connor being the leader. Especially as the chain of command was wiped out when the main HQ aboard the submarine was destroyed so the Resistance would need someone to step up which Connor would be able to do; the only reason he could do that is because the machine gave him his heart otherwise John would've died.

I was really looking forward to a sequel to Salvation. However this new film looks a lot better than expected.

Isn't it also a branch of Skynet that is sending back the Terminator's who help Sarah & John Conner? A branch that would rather the war be over, a rogue element of Skynet.

It's a case of picking a reference that they think is smart but just looks stupid anyway. Looking awkward to pronounce aside, an abbreviation still has to look good if you're going to use it for a big title. And when you know what it means it's even worse. Say it now; Terminator, General Identification System.

"Genisys" (at least spell it right if you are going to hate it without research) stands for General Identification System (computer system for biological identifications).

I apologise to all "y" using words....
