Terraria, Minecraft Inspired Indie

Its an indie game Notch apparently found and approved of. Some people are calling it a rip of Minecraft. Opinions on that, and the game in general?

Personally I think its just inspired by it, but has a lot of innovation and creativity put into it to make it unique. Generally, I think it looks like a cool game and am looking forward to it.

While it looks interesting, to me it looks and feels like a minecraft rip off.

While its not as pixilated. It still copys a lot of minecrafts core principles. The lack of creepers could through people off, but while it does look fun, it appears like a big minecraft rip off.

It looks fun, but very confusing I do see the many similarities with Minecraft, though some of the features such as enemies and weapons look pretty cool!

Pretty much most of them to test them out to see if there good most are its just im not seeing much creativity in indie games if its "Minecraft inspired".

Not bad if you're into a retro sidescrolling experience. Not my cup of tea though.

Honestly there's barely any association with Minecraft - the only thing is being able to place blocks. It innovates with a huge variety of tools, weapons, magic, enemy types, bosses and fluid dynamics, not to mention it's a side-scrolling 2D platformer.

Honestly, people getting worked up with it 'ripping off Minecraft' because you can place blocks need to get their heads out of their ass and stop trying to stagnate the industry by preventing successful mechanics from being built upon.

That said, it doesn't look like my sort of game so eh.

the only thing that makes it look anything like minecraft is the hearts (which amazingly notch didnt invent -shock horror) and the bubbles when under water (once again, not notch). iv played loads o games thatlet you build, but everyone just assumes anything like that is just trying be minecraft, which is a shame really.

Same here. I definitely see the influences, but the differences here make it look like it could be a blast.

Could also have started development BEFORE minecraft was even released. Seems to me like this isn't going to be released while still in its Alpha or Beta but will be released completed. Hell for all we know Notch could have been in the beta of a few games been able to get the source code and made a 3d version of the game.
