Any sewer level. Seriously, name one that didn't suck.
The sewer levels in Crash bandicoot 2 weren't bad or annoying. Also Sewer Speedway from Crash Team racing was a fun racetrack.

Although sewer missions that were bad were the ones in Jak games such as Jak 2 and 3, also the sewer racetracks in Jak X were very bad. Those were annoying. Also there's a sewer mission in Call of duty: Finest Hour that gave me permanent nightmares.

The underwater level in Starfox 64.

The graphics were so bad I couldn't even tell what was going on half the time. The sad thing is that I loved the rest of that game.

Kocari Wilds, the first non origin mission right before your initiation for Dragon Age: Origins.

Taris, the opening level for Knights of the Old Republic.

Paragus, the opening level for Knights of the Old Republic II.

The first mission (not intro) of Mass Effect 2.

Interesting those are all Bioware games. And among my favorite games of all time.

The old (Pre Cataclysm) starting area for Orcs and Trolls in World of WarCraft. Horrible.

Seconded I hated that damn place.

Vampire: Bloodlines. That goddamned arse of a sewer level, on the way to find the Nosferatu.

It's boring, confusing, padded to all hell and you're under constant attack from those Tzimisce head-with-leg things, and only rats for blood supply.

Ventrue playthrough of that section was the least fun I've ever had playing a game.
Probably my least favorite part of that game, but it was better on my playthroughs with more combat capable characters.

Yeah, The Library. Thing is, repetitiveness aside, it wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't so long. You know how Halo-levels are divided in subchapters with these titles that pop up? Well, in The Library that happens every time you go up a floor on those big elevators, and then that sub-chapter is exactly the same as the previous ones, and then it happens again, and again, with those titles eventually evolving into inane rubbish like "But I Don't Want To Ride The Giant Elevator!", as if the developers knew full well how annoying they were being, lampshading it, and laughing at us. Bunch of trolls.

Cortana was also bad, but at least it was over relatively quickly.

As far as another popular answer goes, Dragon Age, I liked the Fade. It wasn't too hard, and it was a nice change of pace, and it didn't take that long, once you figured it out. The Deep Roads however can rot in hell.

Seconded! I hated the first five seconds of the music you got in the cave as a result.

It wouldn't have been so bad if zubat was worth catching...

The warrens! argh i'd forgotten about that one. if you're melee and don't have a lot of stealth points, which I was in my play through, its like a cross continent ride on the paintrain. of course if you're ranged I'd imagine the first part with just the head-leg things would be rly hard. Anticipation of the warrens is the only thing thats keeping me from replaying that thing. I'm thinking getting 8 stealth would be the only way to do that part well. (I'm told the monstrosities down there have very bad eyesight.) Any tips on how to beat that part easily?

There was this really obnoxious one in SiN where you've been injected with this drug that turned you into a monster (much like the ones you've been fighting) and entered into some sort of tournament. Unlike the monsters you've been fighting, your health is constantly falling and you have to find more of the drug to stay alive.

I gave up after about three tries and just god moded it.

I think the sand dune from half life 2 was the worst level I have played. Seriously, all you do is try to jump from rock to rock and not get completly decimated from the antlions that want to come eat you!
Yes. Just yes. When you get to that part where you have to tip that see-saw thing so that you can climb up it, I nearly gave up on the entire game after a bazillion attempts. I think I just ran for it in the end.

Not one of the worst but the Twilight Steeple in Paper Mario: TTYD was so annoying. Go all the way to the end of the level then back. And then back again. And again. And yet again.

Looks like lots of people have named it already, but PLEASE don't say the OoT Water Temple. It was my favorite dungeon in the game- it was brilliantly designed and if you put aside an hour or two to play through it in one go you'll realize this. Best dungeon ever.

My most hated level is probably 'Victory or Death' from the first english GBA Fire Emblem. Had to restart it soooo many times. Then when I finally get all my characters alive to the boss he completely rapes me.

/cry the memories OHH THE HORROR....
I could never finish that game because of that. I just...cant bring myself to do it ^ and any "dark" level...god let me see dammit...if i wanted everything to be dark i would go to sleep and shut the lights
Any 'dark' level? I hope you don't count all the Dark World temples from A Link to the Past in that...I reckon that's an even better game than OoT, if that's possible.
