Anders Behring Breivik, the man behind the bomb in Oslo and the killing spree on Utoya has been in court today (25.07), and he's got 8 weeks of custody, with 4 weeks of complete isolation. He is not allowed to get visits, letters, or communicate with the world outside the prison. He has also said that he worked with two terror cells!

Anders Breivik from (or to) the court:

NEW INFO:

What is apparent now, is that the bombing wasnt "the main attack". The main attack was at the youth camp at Utøya, a little island where over 600 children were at a "political summer camp" (its just that it was arranged by a political group, all they did there was the normal summer camp stuff).

The man came dressed as a police officer, telling everone to gather in the big hall to announce facts about the terrorist attack. When most had gathered in there, he started shooting. Most kids didnt realise what was going on, and thought it was fireworks. When people started to fall, panic broke out. The man continued walking calmly and shooting everyone, regardless of gender/age/race.

Most tried to hide, not realising what was going on. The man then apparently walked around yelling calmly "im with the police! Come to me, Ill keep you safe!". Some were lured by this, came to him and got shot.

many tried to swim away. The island is a good distance from the mainland, so many was in the water for over an hour. Many got picked up by good bystanders (that came out with their boats), but many havent made it in the water, either from exhaustion or wounds.

Almost everyone of the 600 got some sort of injury, be it low body temperature (it was also raining), bruises or the more serious: gun wounds and death.

So far, 91 deaths have been confirmed, whereas 7-10 are from the bombing. They have no clue about survivors from Utøya, loads are missing, meaning the death toll WILL rise.

The police managed to take the man alive, details around this havent been revealed yet. Since the man has been named, facts about him are easy to collect.

Norway is a very peacefull country. There are low crime rates, few murders and we have never had any form of terrorist attack since WW2. This event is a tragedy and a shocking revelation that nomatter how nice and peaceful a country is, all it requires is one madman to shatter the illusion. Norway will be changed by this.

Around 15:20 GMT+1, today (22.07), several explosions went off in Oslo, Norway. The cause is still unknown, and the casualties are unknown, but feared to be large. The bombs went off near the government buildings, blowing windows out of many buildings are starting fires.

Yeah, that's just come on the radio. Here's what the <a href=http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-14252515> BBC has to say about it - precious little at the moment, but of course reports are still coming in.

EDIT - Fixed link.

I just talked with some friends that work a block over, they have one injured customer but are otherwise alright.

The politics in Norway are gonna reach inane levels over the coming weeks.

This really hasn't sunk into me yet, but I know that we haven't had anything like this, I don't know, since the war or something. I'll be monitoring this for the days to come.

I am also very confused. Why? What have we done?

EDIT:

Yeah, as for reasons why, I'll wager our involvement in Libya and Afghanistan is high up on the list. Both Al-Quida and Ghaddafi have made direct threats to Norway.

EDIT 2:

Killer is indeed a 32-year old Norwegian male. He is said to be radically right winged, not leftist.

And the new death count is at least 87. My thoughts go out to the victims of this tragic incident.

Norway is still in Afghanistan, that might be it. Besides, Scandinavia don't have the best reputation with Islam, due to those Muhammad caricatures.

I wish the terrorists could keep to bombing each other instead of us, what did Norway do to anger them?

Just a few months ago they tried to set off a bomb in Sweden aswell, luckily the guy messed up and only he died, but still. Sweden is one of the countries that takes in the most immigrants from the Arab countries, you would think they would be grateful, guess not.

Horrible, I hate how often these things have happened in the past years (yes, yes, I know about PAN-AM 103 and the RAF, IRA) It's the exposure that's different.

Any information on the targets? (government buildings/newspapers/high-profile individuals?)

edit* NM, I just read the BBC-report, apparently all three.

Something I don't like about this is all the people jumping on the "muslims did it" bandwagon.
Just check the comments on the youtube video and see what I mean.

Yes, this was probably done by an EXTREMIST muslim group. Don't judge all of them because what very few of them does.

It pisses me off!

Nope. The Prime Minister is safe. Still no idea who or what caused the explosion.
