Please do not fill your minds with hate, vengeance will never solve anything. Do not let anybody manipulate these events to force your country to do something you will regret forever. Your country has the subtle respect of a large portion of the free thinking people of the world, do not let demagoguery destroy the excellent country you have built. Do not allow your government use this to impose intrusive and fascist security measures upon you. It happened in the UK and US, do not follow in our footsteps. Learn from your tragedy, and learn from the mistakes of other Western countries.

Why alarm bells? It's just a voluntary camp kids go to with a political focus. This one was special because Gro Harlem Brundtland was supposed to do a speech there. She's an ex-prime minister.

There's nothing funny about the camp, just the description of it. It's not something I can explain easily, just a quirk of the suspicious American political psyche.

It's not that kind of camp. Every political party in Norway has a youth branch, where idealistic young people can voice their opinions and be heard by the politicians. Many politicians have a background in these youth groups.
This camp is a sort of festival they hold for the members of AUF, our Labour party youth organisation.

It's not an indoctrination thing, it's not like Hitler-Jugend or anything like that. The kids (and by kids I mean 15-20 y.o.) are idealists and dedicated political activists before they attend the camp as well.

A relative was a nurse at Utøya.... just talked with her. She saw about 50 corpses there, mostly children... Its so disgusting... Im so angry I almost got tears in my eyes.
