Incredibly sad. I saw him about 6 months ago since he lived in Broad Chalke and he looked pretty frail back then. At least his creations lives past him. Thanks for Unseen Academicals, my first and favourite Terry Pratchett book.

...No...

...No, this cannot be...

It's so weird. How can I feel so sad and empty about the passing of a person I've never met?
But I love his books. I love them to death. You lot know that. No other author has managed to so completely and thoroughly enthrall, enchant and immerse me in their worlds like Pratchett did. Unlike some of you, I never grew up with them (I knew of their existence, but I never started reading them until about 3-4 years ago), but no other book before or since has managed to hold my attention in the same way. The wonderful descriptions, the colorful characters, the rich lore, all of it. Thanks to that, I pretty much read 5-6 of his books over the course of about 2 months.

This doesn't just involve Discworld, either. Right now, I'm reading Dark Side Of The Sun, one of his earliest books. It has the same feeling of magic as Discworld. I look forward to buying all of his other books and feel so sad that he'll never write another book again.

The world has lost a great author, a spark of creativity, the creator of one of the most intriguing and colorful worlds the literary world could offer. (At least, in my opinion) I hope he had as much fun writing these little magic books as we had reading them.

Don't Fear The Reaper. RIP, Sir.

There is nothing we can do but to salute him for having existed and in doing so having enriched the lives of all those around him. His legacy, dramatic finesse, compassion and wit will be remembered by all those that have enjoyed his works.

Rest easy Sir Terry Pratchett, for a life well spent.

Death comes personally for wizards, royalty, and those most important. Terry was all of them.
Those words are as kind and true as they are moving. Thank you.

I've not read any Terry Pratchett, even though by all accounts (and judging also by my own brief experiences of what he's written) I would love his work to bits. Always came across as an intensely intelligent and imaginative bloke.
