TF2 could have at least been decent on console if Valve knew what the fuck they were doing and didn't completely abandon the game after a a few measly patches. We weren't asking for everything the PC version got, just a map pack or two and some more patches to make the game playable.

Like others have said you should at east try it and see if you can run it. It is a MUCH better version. Although I have no idea why people say it's dead. There are always people to play against once in a while when I play it. People say it's dead because not many people host games. There are a crap ton of people who still play it. Just find a host and plenty of people should join. It's not dead, but it's not that great either.

No. Totally not worth it.

I played it in 2009 just to see how things were going on the 360 version, at any given time there was only one match available, and they seem to get butthurt rather easily, as I did a taunt ONCE and got kicked from the only available game.

The only (theoretically) good thing about the 360 version is no updates = no hats.

I can't play TF2 on my laptop but I can play it on the 360...which I wouldn't recommend if you don't have XBL-Gold since the last time I did play about a year or two ago, the game was pretty well populated. Try playing on your PC if you can.

So yeah, I've heard about TF2 forever, but never really checked it out. I saw the orange box for sale on the XBLA and was wondering if the Xbox version was as good as the PC version. Probably not, but is it even worth getting? I'd play it on my PC, but it's a piece of shit.
Nope, no-one's playing it. Not a soul, it's as dead as my hope for Episode 3 coming out this generation. Get it on PC, since TF2's free on Steam.

To quote Yahtzee, "short answer: no. Long answer: Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo." Everything about the 360 version is worse than the pc version.

The 360 version of TF2 still has a community of around 30,000 players, and that was before The Orange Box became available for download. I never had a problem finding a full lobby(although most of them are 2fort).

It's still the vanilla version of TF2, but even then it's worth playing. Also, Half-Life2 and Portal make the price worth it.

It is pretty much Microsoft's fault. They have some really stupid policies, namely that NOTHING may be updated or sold for free. Team Fortress 2 is a free game with free updates and downloadable content. Microsoft won't allow that.

Microsoft: How DARE you try to give away your own stuff for free instead of taking away their money!?
Valve: ... Yeah... We're gonna just... go now...

No, not even close. Try it on your PC, it's free and you have nothing to lose.

Not in the slightest. It comes nowhere near the PC version of the game at this point and spending any amount of money on a now free-to-play game would be silly.

Team Fortress 2 is one of the best optimized, easiest to run games out there. And the good part is that on all low it still looks pretty decent. And you can even force it to run in DX8, which is three generations behind but still supported. And it's free, so really you won't be losing anything in the small chance you can't run it.

Given that the 360 version will never see any of this [http://www.teamfortress.com/history.php], which the PC version is getting even as i write this, i would declare the 360 version of TF2 to be TF2 in name only.

I played the console version online around when the game came out. The host advantage is ridiculous. I don't really think its worth it. Plus there would be no updates. Seems like the PC version is the only way to go for that game. My PC isn't good enough for it either.

TF2 on the console is severely outdated and it's no fun when you can't have the updated weapons or new hats. THE HATS ARE THE MOST IMPORTANT THING

Half Life 2 is worth it though so if you get orange box just do it for that. Not many people play the TF2 on xbox so it gets boring. It's free on PC so just try it out and if it doesn't work... well sorry! Worth a shot anyways.

Thanks for the advice. I'll see how the PC version holds up on my computer if it ever finishes downloading.
If you can't play the game on minimum settings on your computer you should try Chris's TF2 Config. It's basically a configuration that allows you to run the game on below minimum settings by deleting some aesthetic elements from the levels, which allows for lower end computers to get higher frame rates.

http://fakkelbrigade.eu/chris/configs/

Just follow those instructions and this will allow you to play TF2 on pretty much any PC.
