TF2 Issues

i got TF2 recently because its free and ive heard good things about it.
anyway, i went to play a game online and connected to a server. the loading bar was mostly full then it froze. i tried a few more times, and the same thing happened. has anyone had this issue, and if so, how did you deal with it?

Is your computer ancient? When I tried to play TF2 on my old machine it would run the game, but take about 15 minutes to load a server.

Also, try manually selecting a server, you're gaming on PC now, make the most of it.

its a fairly recent PC but the internet is fairly slow. thanks.

First times loading a server can take long, due to what the server has on it or what map it may be running.

Give it some time.

Yeah, I have that problem. Just leave it, after 4 or 5 minutes it works, it speeds up a little bit after the first time when the server changes levels.

If this happens, just go on a different server. That usually works.

its the source engine just wait once it unfreezes cancel and re-join the server that how it works for me.

Usually just wait a while. Heck as long as your internet isn't below 300 KB/s you should be able to Alt Tab out and do something else if you're impatient. You'll have to wait around a while for the first server you connect to each session (that is, launch the game.) But after that it should be smooth sailing. Also, the more mods (modifications) a server has, it'll take longer to load than a vanilla (no modifications) server.
