I realise CyberAkuma did a thread concerning what people should be doing on TF2, but I would just like to ask you, the people, what you think.

I got off of Team Fortress 2 an hour or so ago after a payload game, and while I enjoyed myself, I was slightly irritated. Why? Because as far as I could tell, no one was doing their job, which is ultimately achieving the objective.

Now on payload maps, I am always a Demoman, and to me, the smartest thing to do would be to litter the payload site with sticky bombs, and defend oncoming attackers with the standard grenade launcher. It works, but then when I am killed, the damned payload gets moved up by about five people.

I check to see where the hell everyone is, only to find that they are all sporadically moving about the map, not caring about the fact that the payload is nearing checkpoints. This doesn't happen with every game, but when it does happen within a game, it's frequent.

Now I realise some people may say 'well as long as they are having fun', but the fun is usually garnered through winning, which was why the game was designed as such.

Am I the only person who feels like he is the only person at times who is doing what he is meant to be doing to achieve the objective in TF2, or do other people feel the same?

You're playing on the wrong servers.

Also, get a mic, you'd be surprised how much people will listen to you.

I agree. Gettign a mic makes things way easier, if you can communicate with your team then they know whats goign on in advance and that can help.

Funnily enough, I had a mic before, but it stopped working because Vista blatantly hates me. I'm working on that though. But even so, it should go without saying in certain cases, but doesn't.

P.S. what's happening with the TF2 servers? Are people actively playing on them?

Agh!! Cart is not moving! Move Gear up!

I feel your pain. It's really, really hard to defend a cart alone. I play Medic, Heavy, and Spy. As a Medic, I can't take big groups, but with the Blutsauger and Ubersaw, I can usually take out a single foe rushing. With the Heavy I'm screwed unless they trickle through with enough time in between to nom on a Sandvich. With the Spy... well, they're not exactly the best at lightning-Defense.

I dunno, find a couple of people on Steam that you get along with? I usually only play in a game with at least one of my friends. That way I know I've got somebody to watch my back.

Uber... spy coming in...?

I do play with my friend whenever he's about, and I've recently convinced two of my old housemates to buy the game, so good times all round. But it still annoys me somewhat when things like that happen, it's like people think this is Call of Duty, and not Team fortress 2.

If The Escapist server is busy I might check them out.

Not everyone can be defending the point, it's not their role. I don't see Snipers charging in to block the payload. Unless it's desperate, like the last point.

That said, there are some people in TF2 who just don't know what they should be doing. And no one goes Medic, I always have to be Medic; just as well I'm an awesome Medic then.

PM me your Steam account. I'll work with you; I'm at least decent with all classes (Excluding Demoman). I'm one helluva Medic and Soldier, though.

We'll prove that "Whole Team is Babies."

I run in as Pyro to move it along, try to hold off the incoming team by myself while moving the cart. I die. My entire out of nowhere starts pushing the cart. WTH were they doing. Watching me?

Another gripe, to most pyro players out there. Please, stop being W+M1's, it is really annoying. You don't go in thrower flaming, sneak up on them. This usually happens with Backburners though

It's really common, because people seem to think that because they are pyros they are the god of fire. It also doesn't help them when they have the thrower on at full blaze charging at an enemy who is 15 feet away. sneaking and ambushing should be the order of the day, or charge in where they can't see you. I also find it irritating when people use the mic for nothing but nonsense.

I like, I like a lot. They shall rue the day they messed with us, I should go tell them in advance to start rueing.

No one going medic is a problem, especially when I have to go medic and I am not a great one by any means. Most of the time it seems to be sniper/scout whoring with one heavy.

EDIT: Sorry double post.

And if they don't, you can just scream sexual Expletives about their family members and Barnyard Animals, that will certainly get you their attention.

Not always. I find that if you've got a group of people running towards you and you just fire randomly, they back away, giving you a chance to make good your escape. But on payload maps, it helps so much if you go on pyro and get in behind everyone. I mean, either people will be focused on the cart or destroying sentrys that you can sneak in and thin out their numbers. It is basically what the backburner was designed for but people don't do. They run about like reckless idiots.

Another thing about the common pyro. If there's a Heavy/Solder and Medic pair, why try and kill the damage dealer first? It's just stupid.

Agreed on all points. It's a shame there aren't more like minded people out there. There are many weapons and equipment that are designed for certain purposes but people aren't using properly, like the Jarate in a sense for crowd control.

Is it really annoying because it works? Because if it works, then it's hard to fault it.

It almost never works. They go in wielding the fires of hell, but do it from about 10 yards away. No way in hell you would stand there and wait to die, you will move or just kill them. That kind of tactic only works if you need to clear a path, but not much else.
