I too originally thought Australian but heard some much better arguments for British a while ago.

What's your take?

Edit: Somehow I posted this thread twice ignore this one.

Hes a sterotyped Australian in the eyes of Americans... poorly done in my opinion.

Australians don't say wanker that much. We use much more colourful language =D

Trust me. That's a guy with an Australian accent, dressed up like Michael Dundee (Crocodile Dundee). He is definately Australian. I think the spy is British, seeing as Spys in games tend to be British because It's always funny to give them a Roger Moore accent.

If you actually think he is British after it has been hammered in SO MANY TIMES THAT HE IS A AUSTRALIAN STEREOTYPE, I have no hope for most people who play TF2....

The attempted accent makes me cringe, but he is made to be Australian.

It actually sounds like an Australian told to talk with what he thinks an Australian accent is.

he's an aussie stereotype. its in his hat, accent and the fact that the backgrounds in Meet the Sniper are supposed to be the outback.
also, look at the Razorback. thats supposed to be some kind of Aborigine design or something.

That and his poorly done accent goes from "elderly primary school teacher" to "that's not a knife" at least 3 times a sentence. :p

Spy is french.
The Spy is European. He speaks with a French accent, but "Prego!" is Italian. His whereabouts are an enigma, wrapped in a mystery, hidden with a stabby knife.

100% definitely Australian. No doubt about it.

I would recognise a fellow Brit anywhere and if they were aiming for British then they missed spectacularly.

He's the spy, he's from england but is fluid in most languages because of the international work he has to perform.

I can't tell....you DO know they are intentionally making hyperbolic caricatures of ALL the nationalities for lulz and that one of the creators is also an Aussie, right?

BTW Valve has made the entirety of Australian culture their punching bag for no other reason that they think its funny and random. Just check out the official Australium wiki entry and the Australian Christmas update on their blog.
