My biggest issue with TF2 is that there are two Americans...
I can understand seeing the Scout and Engineer as Americans, because well, they are, but aren't you forgetting somebody? A certain class who enjoys his psychotic war flashbacks so much he lives them out through his day to day life with extreme gusto? Carries a rocket launcher around?

He's only about as American as they come.

OT: The Sniper is Australian. There is no argument.
I totally forgot about somebody! I even usually play a Soldier too! Bah thanks for reminding me. Okay, three Americans. haha

Hell, I'm from America and it's pretty clear to me where he's from.

Oh come on. It really doesn't always have to be about that, does it? Not all Americans are ignorant, stereotyping assholes. And by stereotyping Americans, you are doing the same thing you criticize them for.

If I'm reacting too harshly to you post, I'm sorry. But the exaggerated hate for the US really bothers me sometimes.

OT: Yes, he is Australian. There are theories that the Pyro is a British Gentleman, due to the way he runs when defeated and the monocle and top hat items.
I meant no offence, I'm from New Zealand (a country sometimes confused as part of Australia). My logic is that the biggest countries which predominantly speak English are the UK, the US and Australia. No-one in their right mind from the UK or Australia would ever entertain the idea that the sniper's accent is British, there is however a slim chance that someone from deep inside the US might be a tad confused coming from a country with its own set of accents.

I'll admit, this does take some massive leaps in reasoning. I know not all Americans are as stupid as the loud-mouthed morons in the broadcasting business.

Easiest option would to be to call the Sniper a kiwi, that way everyone gets pissed off equally.

One of the achievements is "Australian Rules" when you dominate an enemy sniper. Yeah, there is no doubt he is Australian.

He can be British if you take into account that Australia was a British colony. But yeah, he's Australian.

Aw, everyone always forgets about Canada! We're huge in size, but too quiet I guess. We're like the curio cabinet in your mom's house. Huge and well made with lots of beautiful things inside, but no one ever remembers to go there for anything. It's just there in the background when you're eating dinner.

That wall would look awfully empty without us people!

(this whole post is a joke, in case you didn't gather that.)

Some of his weapons point him to being Australian as well if you want to just ignore valves description.

Maybe this is an American thing where you can't tell Australian and British accents apart but...

He is Australian! He couldn't be any more Australian unless he had a koala clinging to his back to carry extra ammo for him.

Me pointing that out probably only reinforces what you were originally talking about, anyway, heh.

...you guys have seen the Australian flag, right?

Y'know, with the Union Jack on it? I mean, Australia used to be a commonwealth of the UK (just like Canada, who still have the Queen of England on their currency), so it wouldn't be out of place for the Sniper to say "God Save the Queen," especially considering the time period.

He's Australian, no doubt about it- I've even known a couple Aussies to sound like he does. Granted, they were from -very- rural Australia, but yeah.

Aussie all the way. The bio, the use of g'day and mate and whatnot, the accent, all rather directly point to him being Australian.

Valve has flat-out told us the voice actor is a British guy imitating an Australian accent.

Sniper is supposed to be Australian, regardless.
