I don't understand this talk about 'poorly performing weapons', they're responsive and accurate so I'm not sure what else you could want from them. They are rather idiosyncratic - they aren't realistic by any means, but they stay true to the game's Quake roots which is part of the pace and balance of the game. Let me know if there's something I'm missing here, but it seems like people are complaining that the guns aren't similar enough to the guns in other games. If that were the case, I'd find the game pretty damn boring myself.
They aren't Call of Duty laser rifles that's why, heh. If you come from a counter-strike or COD background it can be akward. I know it was to me at first. Then after I got used to it I had a grand time. Haven't played it much lately though, been into other games. But it's always something I feel I can go back and play.
SPAH SAPPIN' MAH HEARTBEAT MONITAR!! But seriously... I guess that's the difference. Maybe I don't mind because I went from playing Doom to Quake, to Half-Life, to TFC,
then to Counter-Strike and later Battlefield 2, so I'm used to a whole array of different weapon styles. Yes, I can say with complete confidence, if someone's complaint about TF2 is the style of weaponry, there isn't much hope of them ever enjoying it because the balance of the game is perched on the classic Quake-style firing and movement. Now, if someone wanted to make a CS/TFC crossover that incorporated slow movement, realistic weaponry,
and a collection of goofy payload maps, I'd certainly try it. But I'm guessing I won't be playing it for more than a week.
