https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/this-campaign-has-been-closed--2 (dead)

So I just visited their site to see if an early donation would also get me whatever game The Fine Young Capitalists end up making.

However... it looks like indiegogo itself has shut it down because they don't like what 4chan is doing. I followed the "support us" link from this URL http://www.thefineyoungcapitalists.com/Voting

Not sure what's going on here. Any ideas?

Edit: [HEADING=3]details unfolding, read down before posting.[/HEADING]

Edit2: turns out it was most likely a hackjob. Culprit unknown.

wait what? Im sure it was not because of 4chan. /v/ DONATED like 15k dollars to them, THEY GOT TO MAKE THEIR OWN CHERECTER FOR A GAME, and they donated all the money to a charity that works with people who have colon cancer in order and here i quota "cure totalbiscuit of his buttcancer? (or they wanted to rename him total buttcancer, don?t remember that one too well)

The page says it was the Indiegogo team, apparently because they're mad at 4chan.

So to get to them, they're going after a team who wants to support women in gaming. Way to fucking go...

Edit: And that video makes them all look like total morons as well.

As a note, this is what the page looked like for a few moments before it went down completely.

There's a lot of speculation as to who did this and why to be had.

Also, for the people speculating that they took the money and ran, this campaign was a "full funding project" meaning that they would not have access to the money until they reached their goal.

I'm reading in "The Giant Thread of Zoe" that it looks more like a hack than anything else. They may be right, but I personally have no idea. I haven't really gotten involved in this.

Indeed it has gone down, good thing someone took screenshots. I guess we'll have to wait to get some more news.

Well I was wondering when this TFYC campaign first popped up what legitimacy lies with the people involved, but trying to find out resulted in nothing so I didn't want to put down some grand assumptions.
I'm guessing the Indiegogo guys looked into it also and found things lacking.

And if you really think Indiegogo team is doing this out of spite for whoever then you have poor understanding of business, this is their livelihood not some random troll site, if they took things down it means they found something legally questionable that would compromise their business.

Yeah, because Indiegogo totally shuts down legit charities because of petty bullshit they can't prove while embedding "You're an idiot" on the page. It was a hackjob.

Did you maybe consider going one extra step and I dunno, looking at their twitter?

They got hacked, they're upping their security and are talking with Indiegogo about restarting the campaign.

Stop fishing for controversy that isn't there.

What the hell?

Seriously? Why would someone even think to do this? They're a charity that wants to help women get into game development! That are kicking some money towards cancer research! What part of this is a bad thing? And someone hacked the site to tank the project all because it's connected to 4chan and Zeo Quinn? Really? Do these people not understand how bad they're making themselves look? This isn't some clever "Screw you" to 4chan or Quinn's detractors - this is just pathetic. It certainly doesn't make people want to side with them. I just mean - really? If these people are so desperate to shut down the discussion about Quinn, why do they seem so bent on perpetuating it with shit like this?

God, I just feel bad for FYCs at this point. This isn't their shitstorm, they just got caught up in it. Seriously, what sort of twisted logic do you have to employ here to think this would be a good idea?

EDIT: Wait... uh, are we sure the hacking's legit? I mean, I hate to suspect them, but given how the recent "hacking" of Zoe Quinn and Phil Fish's various accounts seem to be fabricated, I'm in full-on conspiracy mode whenever someone claims to be hacked...

I like how you respond to a post and tell the poster not to jump to conclusions, when the post was responding to another post that was completely jumping to conclusions, and proceed to say we don't know anything when both pictures of the site before it was taken down and statements on twitter corroborate that it was a hack

Aaaaaand the Twitch stream the FYC put up to answer questions about the hack got shut down for "not being related to gaming content."

Okay, I see Twitch's point, and I very sincerely doubt this is actually them trying to censor the discussion - they're just adhering to the rules of their site. But the irony is... *Sigh*

I'm just gonna go to bed now. Toooo much drama for me, thanks.

Sorry, considering there's the other thread with like 6000 responses it's very easy to assume people are just fishing for responses.

I understand. I made it at the time because I hadn't heard anything. This whole fiasco really is becoming a clusterfuck.

The Quinnspiracy Continues!
Or should I say the Valkenburg Conspiracy?

Yeah, I think it was hacked by outside forces, pro Valkenburg forces.
