So, Thanksgiving is a semi-big holiday in America, (though some people have their Christmas decorations up already) and I was wondering how the rest of the world views it, if at all. Namely because I work with guys form Bangladesh, West Africa, and Japan, and they celebrate it. So any thoughts?

Personally I have family that came off the May Flower, so it's an important day for me.

It pisses me off.

No, seriously - in the time I played CoH/V, THREE issues were delayed because the devs had to go eat turkey and rejoice over not dying of scurvy/shooting Pocahontas or something.

On a much more serious note: Have never paid it the slighest bit of attention, and likely never will. :)

Kind of irrelevant. Thanksgiving used to be about enjoying the last harvest of the year. Now it's an excuse to eat turkey with relatives and perhaps mow your lawn for the last time until spring.

I'm not complaining. I do love me a nice turkey dinner (Canadian Thanksgiving was in October since we get Winter sooner than you yanks do, hence an earlier last harvest).

It celebrates the day when the puritans had finally slaughtered enough native Americans to convince the rest to turn to Christianity, and so they made turkey for a feast.

What a glorious holiday. But I'll be stuffing my face with awesome food anyway.

I like Thanksgiving, but I can't say the same for everyone else in my neighborhood.

Seriously, almost everyone in my entire block already had their Christmas decorations up since last week. Looks like no one gives a damn about Thanksgiving.

I'm sure there is a decent amount of people who celebrate Thanksgiving around the world, I still think it is more of an American/Western tradition, much like Daylight Savings Day.

That being said, I enjoy Thanksgiving because it is one of those days when my family gets together to eat and call one another fat afterward.

One of the few family orientated holidays mine seems to ignore thankfully though we do for some reason use it's arrival as a marker for putting X'mas decorations up which is a ***** at the best of times.

I never really "got" Thanksgiving.

Maybe it's because we never have huge feasts with all the family over, like we're "supposed" to. I'm definitely going to have a nice meal, though, despite Peta's attempt to make me a vegan through their Cooking Mama parody.

I don't celebrate it, though I do like this time of year because turkeys go on sale so we can pick up a few to freeze so we can have turkey when we want it later on. yummmm, Turkey!!

Oktoberfest is greatly under appreciated in the states, though the ale is quite nice.

Not only do I get to sit on my ass all day and stuff my face with a bucket of fat-dripping meat while I cheer for my beloved Pats (or anyone really, football just kicks too much ass to be picky), this is the one day of the year that people actually expect it from me.

Plus the family is going to try Rock Band this year. Expectations for entertainment are very high.
