The Stainless Steel Rat series.

Seriously, I like the series and the thief its based around is put in many different situations that would be great in a game.
Yes, this. I love the Rat and I have never played a space espionage/stealth game before. Thank you for reminding me of this, might go re-read them now

The Hunger Games could make an interesting game. Not using the actual story from the book of course, but just the premise of The Games. It would make a fun Multiplayer game where each match could last for about an hour or so, you have to find ways to kill the other guys, have to survive obstacles and other things thrown at you, and just have to survive in general. It would be hard to implement but I think it could be a fun game.
This. Although I think, that The Games part could be used in m-player and story could be s-player campaign. BUT it kinda reminds me of Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas...

Foundation Trilogy as a 4X/grand stratgy game. Can you lead humanity through a thousand years of barbarianism to a new golden age or will an unforseen event throw the Sheldon plan into turmoial. Will you find the second foundation at Stars End?

An MMO based not upon a single book but the Discworld series.

Never having given many MMOs much of a chance though, I'm unsure how it would work out...I guess if you hung out in the twin cities Ahnk-Morpork quests would be given by C.M.O.T. Dibbler, Moist von Lipwig and, The Watch. The Mended Drum would be a PVP area. The Guild Halls would likely also be hubs for missions and whatnot. Other than that there would be other recognizable characters giving book-related quests. Maybe Mort needs help loading Binky with a large order of Curry. Maybe Granny Weatherwax needs X-amount of herb for something.

Short answer: Discworld MMO.

and before I forget: Unseen University. It's where I'd likely spend all of my time.
This!So much this! And maybe add some other places like EcksEcksEcks(the continent) which you could enter from UU so there would be a larger choice of places to go.

Most of the books I read have so much depth, or have a concept that is mostly thought, and is hard to conceptualize, so turning it into a game format would be very difficult.

Hmm...

Re-make the LotR games as RPGs?
Wheel of Time could potentially be a good game (it has more than enough lore to draw off of), but the magic would be hard to nail.
Apparently their was a WoT game, where you were an Aes Sedai and the magic was like a fps. Was meant to be decent but didn't get a big audience.

You are so right. I would love to play that game and It fits so well with combat sections, stealth sections and puzzles. I would totally buy that.
I would buy it as well. The books lend themselves almost perfectly to a video game adaptation. You have the RPG stereotypes, a dash of political intrigue and a refreshing take on the fantasy genre. The books would need to be extended, of course, since they were written fairly short and for a young audience, but that could definitely work.

Anyone read Master and Margarita?

It's set in Stalin's Russia where the devil comes to test the inhabitants. By the end of the book all those that fail the test are left in Russia to wallow in their indulgence (Moscow = hell, basically)

I reckon you could do a good sandbox echo bazaar like game. Literally living in hell, where supernatural creatures are among the inhabitants, including the demon behemoth who takes the form of a giant alcoholic cat with guns. Awesome.

Jane Eyre as a point-and-click adventure, with voice artists like Alan Rickman, Jeremy Irons, Emma Thompson, etc. I'd love that.

I'd like to see a game based on Christopher Rowley's Bazil Broketail series. The many wars and battles would make for good action fights swaping out between using a 12 foot tall battledragon and his human dragonboy. Changing who you control based on the situation, a dragon with a 9 foot sword for whole groups and taking on trolls and larger foes, and going for the nimble dragonboy for small fights or crossbow sniping to protect the dragon's legs from small foes while hes fighting larger targets.

The Grey Knights series be Ben Counter. Could make an awesome hack and slash game.

The Road could make a great story driven survival game.

The Chaos Walking series.

It would have survival-adventure, stealth, and an entire war, all with a sci-fi feel. Assuming they would use all 3 books.

Here's an idea: A Hellboy game that isn't complete ass. It could be a third-person adventure game with puzzles and infrequent but very visceral shooty-punchy combat. Mignola would have to be the art director too. In short, a game based off the books, not the films.

Dan Abnett's Ravenor could also make a good action RPG a la Mass Effect.

But, maybe this time they could make it good?

Actually, that raises another point. I read Beowulf a while ago and it seems like it would be a decent game (based on the poem, not the movie). It would need to be expanded, of course, but it already has antagonists and bosses (Grendel, his mother, the dragon at the end).

If expanding Beowulf would be too difficult, would The Odyssey of Homer make a good game adaptation? I haven't read it, so I might just be being silly for suggesting it.
