None, most licensed games based off Movies, TV shows, Books or other media usually ends up piss poor. Should I remind people of Dante's Inferno, a game (loosely) based on classical literature. I do not need game designers who fail to study their source material to butcher another classic for me.

I've always thought a game based on The Odyssey would be pretty cool. One that follows the story directly, not a "loosely based on" piece of garbage.

Perhaps the manual from Shadowrun would count?

I know there was already a Shadowrun game a while back, but I want one that was done RIGHT.

Also, maybe the Bartimaeous Trilogy and the Animorphs Series.

The Dresden Files have plenty of material for an amazing Vampire: The Masquerade-ish RPG. We could do with some more urban fantasy in games.

Of course you wouldn't be playing Harry himself, but he'd feature in the game as a faction, just like Murphy, Billy and his club and of course some evil factions too for everyone who wants to go down the dark road.

Here's an idea: A Hellboy game that isn't complete ass. It could be a third-person adventure game with puzzles and infrequent but very visceral shooty-punchy combat. Mignola would have to be the art director too. In short, a game based off the books, not the films.
Go play Darksiders, that comes awfully close to what you're describing, including the (over-the-top) gothic esthetic. I love to bits so far.

Maybe one day we will get an exceptional Narnia universe RPG since most of modern 'fantasy' still owes the series a big debt.
Narnia would be awesome especially since the series is actually partly sci fi aswell as fantasy. If you have read the original Narnia book 'The Magicians Nephew' the kids access another world through the "Wood between the Worlds'' The white witch, who is called 'Jadis' in that first book, is actually from a devastated planet with a dying sun. She's not actually meant to be in Narnia hence the unbalance.

I always think a first person detective/stealth/beat em up game ala Arkham Asylum would be a very good platform for Commander Vimes of the Discworld series. I would play the crap out of that game. Esepcially if you got Angua helping you as a werewolf etc. It just has so much potential in the dark streets of Ankh Morpork. :)

The Redwall series would possibly make a fun RPG game. Like DnD mixed with Animal Crossing. Instead of humans, orcs and elves, choose between mice, moles, and hedgehogs!

Legend, by David Gemmel.

The story is brilliant, and, I believe, could become a brilliant video game, if handled well.

How about The Stand? I think it would make a cool RPG where you could decide to be good or evil. You could go with Flagg in Vegas or Redman/Abagail in Boulder.

You could even translate that into an MMORPG but that would probably suck.

Please Please Please tell me I can play a level as the Old Black lady standing in for Jesus!! :) Its a good idea, I can just see some really funny ways it could play out.

On that same note there could be a pretty scary Survival Horror game based off of Stephen King's Desperation.

OOOOOh goodness, the Sookie Stackhouse novels. The show True Blood is very loosely based off them. It could be a combo of Survival and point and click/choose your own adventure to decide which of the like 15 guys gets to jump the heroin's bones is.

I would also suggest the 2 Dragon Age books, waaay more cohesive story than 2 for what thats worth.

Harry Potter. I'd like to see games based on the books, not the movies. They could be epic in scale and maybe even have the potential to add to the story rather than whittling it down.

Hmmm currently reading the mistborn series and a game based of it might be interesting. The metal powers sound like they would be fun to use and most could probably work well as a game mechanic, hell they even have your basic enemies you could have outlined (Lurcher, Thug, Coinshot, Tineye, Steel Inquisitor).
