I know Spoony isn't there anymore, but the site introduced me to him and he's the only one I still try to regularly follow for the time being. He's funny, he's intelligent, insightful and really has the passion to go in depth and pick apart all the little details and inconsistencies that I never would have given consideration to. He's very good at driving his point home, even if I don't agree with it. I knew absolutely nothing about the Ultima series before he kicked off his retrospective, but by the end of it he's really taken you on a journey and you completely get the burning rage he holds for Ascension, it's palpable. The words 'What's a Paladin?' will forever be etched into my mind and I think there's a real talent behind that. I dig the Nostalgia Critic and I've seen pretty much every episode he's done up to and including the Scooby-Doo finale thing, but from that point on I haven't caught up with anything TGWTG related unless you count Spoony. I guess I kind of partly lost interest in the site, partly got sick of trying to load their video's with my shitty connection (which has miraculously vastly improved of late), I fell behind with a lot of the people I was following and couldn't be fucked to sift through all the new reviews and get up to speed, I never saw/heard bad things about/couldn't be arsed with To Boldly Flee and as much as I like the guy, I think NC/Doug seriously fucking caved by bringing the character back after about 3 months or whatever it was. So it's been a little while since I've visited the site, but when I was frequenting it, I was into the following:
I really like Bennett the Sage's video game reviews and I'm intrigued enough by his perspective on things to watch a few Anime Abandon's even if I acknowledge that he's covering a subject matter that I'm very uninformed on.
I like hearing Brad Jones much more for his movie-Vlog-reviews-from-his-car-with-friends that I liked to throw on in the background from time to time over his actual Cinema-Snob reviews.
I intermittently followed Linkara, though me being having very little knowledge about/investment in comics and his videos stretching out to 30min/40min a lot of the time meant I kind of relegated his stuff to being background material, but he definitely has his moments and I loved it when he really got angry with something he was reviewing. (On a sidenote, I actually first heard about Yahtzee in one of his reviews, so cheers for that one Lewis. ;3)
I also liked Film Brain, Nostalgia Chick, I've seen the odd Jesu Otaku and CR here and there and I was starting to get into Oancitizen's stuff before I stopped coming back but I'm getting tired and I can't really be buggered to go into detail about them.
