Well theres this guy who coughed on me once. Next day, I became sick.

...And then humanity just fell apart. So much sickness going around.

And that is the absolutely true story of how humanity made me sick.

I'm getting particularly pissed off by what's going on in Afghanistan right now. We've spent 11 years trying to turn that madhouse of a country into a functioning, secure state that will be friendly to the West. Now this ridiculous shit is happening.

We're basically going to pull out, and leave behind a new Saudi Arabia. Whatever happened to the new world order?
Well you bombed half the country to hell, and now find the survivors are bastards.
So the only question now is, did you bomb the wrong half?

The simple truth is that in such places unless the women stand up for their rights, they aren't gonna get them. A lot of Afghani women apparently find comfort in their position in society (don't ask me why, culture is a complicated thing). One very important thing to consider is if the people as a majority actually want change.

Or you could just completely firebomb the whole country off the map. Its not like they have oil or anything.

I'm not defending or condemning Afghanis. I just think the Americans never really understood them as a people. But I guess that tends to happen when you shoot first and ask questions later.

Seeing how people use certain incidents to lose hope in all humanity. Oh no, a small child was killed by someone driving past and no-one noticed, all of mankind should be blamed for this. Nothing could make me sick over humanity as one because humanity isn't one separate thing.

Everytime someone creates a thread with "what makes YOU hate humanity?" or "I don't want to live on this earth any more", I cringe.
You know, maybe all those that say "Humanity sucks" or "I don't want to live on this earth any more" could just group together and be cynical in their own little camp, and the rest of us that believe in positive change (and the fact that we have thousands of years of positive change to back up our statements with) can actively try to change things for the better.
Ah, but I digress.

The internet makes me "not live on this earth", if you want a clear answer. The internet and slackers.

My personal moment happened when I was substitute teaching in a special needs classroom. There was a little girl in the class with an extreme case of fetal alcohol syndrome, the worst any of the teachers or aids in the classroom had seen before. Her name? Tequila. Yes, her parents named her after alcohol. It broke my heart.

Right now my disgust at humanity is targeted at people like Rush Limbaugh and Rick Santorum, who think they can victimize women who use or support the use of contraceptives. Mr. Santorum thinks that contraceptives are "bad for women and for society." Rush went so far as to call a 30 year old college student and vocal supporter of affordable contraceptives a slut and prostitute.

"What does it say about the college co-ed Susan Fluke who goes before a congressional committee and essentially says that she must be paid to have sex -- what does that make her? It makes her a slut, right? It makes her a prostitute. She wants to be paid to have sex. She's having so much sex she can't afford the contraception. She wants you and me and the taxpayers to pay her to have sex."

"So Miss Fluke and the rest of you feminazis, here's the deal: If we are going to pay for your contraceptives and thus pay for you to have sex, we want something. We want you to post the videos online so we can all watch."

The mind-numbing stupidity of the bolded phrase is the one that offends me the most. Does he not know how hormonal contraceptives work? That you get a pack of 28 pills and you take one EVERY DAY, not just when you have sex?

I'm sorry, but the women of America and the rest of the world who take birth control pills are the responsible ones, how dare you try to shame us? Let's not forget that some women need the pills not just for contraception, but to deal with medical situations. I have poly-cystic ovary disease, an extremely painful condition that can require surgery if left untreated. The most common, affordable treatment? Hormonal birth control. Other women use the pill to help with acne, or hair loss, or because their periods are too painful to deal with otherwise. Thanks for calling us sluts and prostitutes and feminazis, Rush. Thanks a lot.

1st, beat the shit out of him, spreading rumours that will wreck your high school life cannot be taken lightly, and second; most extremely homophobes themselves are gay, (secretly obviously)

Did I miss the memo that it was cool to be cynical now? Ok yes humanity does some horrible disgusting things no doubt about that, but come on people. Sitting around talking about how you lost faith in humanity isn't going to do anything. If it makes you sick then do something about it. We as human beings have the amazing ability to overcome anything including bigotry, hatred, and stupidity.
I can only speak for myself, but my participation in these conversations isn't about cynicism, it's about catharsis. It's about saying "You know what really grinds my gears?" and hearing from other people that yes, it also grinds theirs, that I'm not the only one who finds this stuff to be irritating at the least and painfully frightening at it's worst. I blow my steam, I shake my head at the other posts and sometimes reply with a hearty "I feel ya" and I go about my day.

When i see the same thread about how humanity makes you sick or how they have lost faith in humanity , every other week.
It's more of that moment which makes you go. "My god how can people do this?" rather than the melodramatic loss of faith in humanity.
It makes me wonder, how can any human want to hear about how bad its species is?

However, on topic. Well... never "lost faith" in humanity, I guess it's just a phase. As for your predicament at school, just role your eyes and say you're not. What ever you do don't get offended. Or reply with extreme sarcasm. Don't make the troll stronger.
I won't lie I have an alternate motive for this thread, mainly to do with school. However I also think it is interesting if people group on one opinion or have a little quirk which others may of not thought of.

There. Faith restored. Unless you're REALLY a dick.
Who would have thought Charlie Chaplin would have such an awesome voice.

I'm a fatalist and a cynic. Losing faith in humanity comes with the territory.

But OP, saying you've "lost faith in humanity" because a guy in high school spread a rumour about you and you missed out on a girl? That's pretty shallow. There are a lot worse things in the world to be cynical about.

That is a great speech.

Also, where did I say I lost faith in humanity? If I did it was merely a mistype, I don't recall saying that and rather letting the comments make you think I said that. Like my reply, I have not lost faith in humanity. The girl more of a sidenote, it's the Homophobia that really annoyed me. Him spreading a rumor out of bitterness, yes I think I can be pissed off at that. Sure I am a teenager, but being a teen I can make mountains over ant hills.

Meh... people are people... the lack of education, or the difference in education and understanding in different areas of the world cause people to do things differently! To us things that happen in Africa and the Middle east all sounds horrifying and horrible... and it is, but to them it is justified, and normal, and makes sense!

progression will tke place... but it's not something that will happen in a day! Or something that will be cured with internet petitions, or moaning... unfortunately!

Again, I don't have anything against humanity as a whole, I know people do not all have homophobic traits. Also, I love this earth, going through it's up and downs is life. It's interesting thing to live through. Still there are moments where you can find a trait that is out of line. If people say they don't want to live on this earth, they have their opinion. Also if the internet makes you feel that way, why would you be on reading this thread and commenting? This is something that is boggling my mind, that people feel the need to say the same thing over and over again, just don't reply to my thread otherwise you are just joining in with what you hate.

I am in the military, and it's part of what we do to try and understand why the shit that happens, happens... It's very hard to understand, and we, as a whole, struggle to! The fact that most of the people in Afghanistan would prefer to live under the harsh rule of the Taleban than under an elected democratic gorvernment... seems sensible to us, but to them, and their upbringing, it is bettert o have strict rules and harsh punishments...

Ironically, because our military is trying to help in Afghanistan, most of the western civillians think we shouldn't be there, and are just wasting time and resources... but because the media is in places like Africa, they switch on to those problems and act like we shuld be doing something there instead...! It's very strange! I bet if we moved into Uganda like everone on facebook seems to think we should be doing, after a couple of weeks they would be moaning about that too! :S

We are fickle beings in the end. Jumping to the flavor of the month. We have good in our hearts, however unfortunately either people jump onto the hot topic without looking deeper in to it (Kony) and others never stick to it long enough to make a difference. You have my respect and thanks for helping them and keeping us safe.

EDIT: Looked at the profile you're from the UK! Well thanks for keeping us safe, that's from a Scottish lad.

That one always throws me for a loop too. That's why I'm particularly fond of a quote by Galileo that goes "I do not feel inclined to believe that the same God that endowed us with sense, reason, and intellect intended us to forgo their use."

Also fans raging about tiny insignificant details, like say Sonic the Hedgehog's eyes for example. Surely there are more important things in the world to fuss over than whether a blue hedgehog is drawn with green irises in his eyes or not.

Never quite understood why people were so fixated on small details with Sonic. I'd say it was before my time, but I do try to play games before the days of CoD that I at least understand the reasoning somewhat.

A thread on here about police brutality in which I was the first in a 5 page thread to point out that everyone had watched and commented on in detail a video of a man being shot to death.

I was the only guy on that thread who even mildly took issue with it. I know it sounds like I'm being all holier-than-thou, and I guess I am, but that thread was absolutely disgraceful.
Wait. There was a video of a man being shot to death and no-one seemed to care? Odd. Never heard this, sure they didn't think it was fake or something?

Nope. I'll see if I can find the thread, but they were discussing whether the police were in the right or not, with comments such as 'put it on full screen at 1:30! You can clearly see that the policeman unloaded more bullets than was necessary!' (to paraphrase).

Then again, I didn't watch the video for obvious reasons. So I could have made a massive mistake here. But from reading that thread... I really doubt it.
I guess that's the problem, with that but also with this threads reply. People do not read the OP or read the comments and make assumptions. Still would be interested in seeing this.
