I found myself playing the mini games in the LittleBigPlanet games more than I did the actual stories. Damn they were addictive.

I played the shit out of Triple Triad in Final Fantasy VIII, probably because I enjoyed it more than the main game. I also spent a lot of time playing the Donkey Kong and Jetpac arcade games in Donkey Kong 64, although to be fair that was a means to an end as there were rewards for beating them.

Dice Poker in the Witcher games was quite fun to play and a great way to get a ton of orens.

Pazaak also took a lot of time out of me while playing Kotor for the same reasons.

The woodcutting in Fable 2. It had me in it's cold unshakable grip and I could not stop until I ran out of forests.
I loved Fable 2 and although I did like some of the things in the third game I kinda want to go back and play it again.

I never played the first one so I don't know how good it is but Fable 2 was a lot of fun even with it's many flaws.

Does mods count? I play more Desert Strike mod in starcraft 2 than the actual game, in fact I can't remember that last time I touch ladder.

The FF8 card game comes to mind, that shit was legitimate fun.

Also: the rock paper scizors fighting game in legend of legaia. That was tough and fun.

Dice Poker in The Witcher possibly took more time than the game itself, at least in Chapter 2. It basically is what I did when I had nothing else to do, and in Chapter 2, there's the possibility you may have large chunks of nothing to do.

In Twilight Princess, I spent an insane amount of time doing the various mini-games and fishing. Not sure if it ever accounted for more than the rest of the game, but it did a take a good chunk of the game.

The Chao garden in Sonic Adventure 2. I spent an embarrassing amount of time trying to make mine look right and getting it to win all the events.

Super Mario Bros for the DS. I played that one Bo-bomb game where you need to slide red / black bo-bombs into their respective areas.

Had a lot more fun playing that than the main game.
