I realised I had no new age to look forward to. I'm old enough to drink and that's the last thing of freedom I am afforded.
Also, when I realised that knowing the connection between these two objects is not common knowledge.
It's an emergency rewinder. You might be old but you aren't alone. CDs were brand new when I was young, I only ever owned a couple of tapes. But a couple was enough. *wink*

My moment: I had grown facial hair since high school, to try and look older than I was. (Looking back I realize it didn't work at all. Anyway.....) One day I found two gray hairs in my goatee. I stopped growing a beard to look older and began shaving to look younger.

I've also had conversations about video games with kids who don't show proper reverence for, or even know the name of, Atari.

When I realised I have friends I haven't seen in over 20 years.
I had that happen the other day. That & realizing I've been with my wife for almost twenty years is enough to make anyone feel old

When walking along on the street, kids refer to me as "that man".

Taking the bus, and having parents urging their kids to offer me their seat.

Small talk with other adults while in line at the grocery store.

Have an adolescent boy hold a door open for me.

Teenage cashier talking slowly to me, taking time to pronounce everything properly.

I'm not even that old, I'm just tall, scruffy and raggedy looking.

I'm 21 and it's not that uncommon for my 16 year old brother to not know what the hell I'm on about because he's too young. long live the technological revolution I grew up in. Other than that, I often feel mature when I get one of those feelings of responsibility.
Just yesterday I was telling a girl who's about a year younger than me that she should tell her boyfriend that she kissed a guy when she was drunk at a party...
Other moments include when I have my parents over for dinner or when I'm visiting them without spending the night.

I was once visiting an old teacher of mine. We went to the computer room in my old school because he needed my help with something on a computer. Beside us, there were two kids, about ten or eleven years old. They were sitting in front of a computer and brwosing through a page that had funny pics. Eventually they clicked on the image below and couldn't answer the question. They then asked me and my teacher what it is and why it's supposed to be funny...

I felt old the minute I turned on the radio and honestly said, and I meant it: "THIS is what they call music these days?"

You think your Commodore 64 is pretty neato. What kinda chip you got in there, a Dorrito?
Weird Al...All about the pentiums. I have always loved him and his stuff but no one my age even knows who he is! You have done the opposite and made me feel young -.- (damn 16 year olds and.. *shakes fist*)

I'm not old physically but both me and my friend would've fit in much better many years ago...

On my first day as a HS junior I looked around thinking 'what are all these little kids doing in my school?' Facepalming ensued as I realized they were Freshmen.

Meh, 28 now and felt old when I was in college.

Sad part is that was 9 years ago (19 years old) and it just seemed the wave of a new era kept pouring over me...but honestly? I felt old when in High school. I was taught alot of manners, holding a door open for people, apologizing when it was required, thanking the person if required, actually saying please when required. Other high school students thought I was 30 in a high school...

....yeah, my childhood wasn't a..favorable one.

When I got to my first duty station after a year and a half of tech school and had my first day of work as a maintainer of nuclear weapons.

At 19 years old.

I still play Zelda on Game Boy Color for christ's sake.

I don't think I could provide a more accurate description for my experience than this guy did, down to the age even. Though I think I will add when I realized how long ago some games I enjoyed as a kid came out.
Let us wallow in misery together.

When I heard some kid refer to Queen and Areosmith as, "that old, forgotten band from the 90's". That was an eye opener for me and I was born in 1993.
Did you smack him? Queen is not from the 90s.

OT: My old moment was teaching my niece and nephew about Super Mario. They were absolutely fascinated with the game, not because it was "fun", but because anyone could call that rude collection of pixels a "game."
HERE HERE GOOD FELLOW. Should have smacked sense into him.

Neither of them are from the 90's actually, kids these days and not knowing what era music is from!

Damn them and their auto tune.

Completely forgotten! Queen is still being sung today, AEROSMITH still goes on tour!

*cue heart attack* THIS GENERATION FORGETS THEIR SONGS! Two weeks on the radio and they think its old! MY HEART! Aerosmith! Queen! WHY?!

/end rant.

I was very tempted to. Couldn't believe it when I heard him say that!

A week ago, while riding the bus, a kid offered me his seat, with a "Would you like to sit down, sir?"

Goddamnit, I'm not that old yet!

Edit: I just remembered another little... "incident". I was talking about music to a group of friends younger than me, and happened to mention vinyls. They asked me what band was that.
Oh God, really? They must be quite young. Mind you, I noticed vinyls coming back, being sold new at HMV and all. Speaking of which, I'll have to hunt mine out. I can't even remember if I still have them. There's bound to be Blondie there somewhere...
