That new bar on the bottom of the screen

I've figured out how to collapse it, but is there any way to disable it entirely? Like from my profile? If not, I believe there should. It's obviously for advertising (Groupon or whatever), so registered members being able to block it would be a good incentive to create a profile for some people, which would likely lead to them visiting the site more (and thus more ad revenue).

To add some discussion value: do you find those little bars annoying?

That's fair enough, it's just you have to be wary with new additions to the site. There are a lot of people who will complain about a change just because it's different to what they're used to. Not saying this is one of those occasions, because it isn't.

Which is why I manly stick to being irritated by the captchas and the ads that go around the videos and de-sync it so it'll only play in a screwed up way. They impair enjoyment of the site. I will respect their need for money and security, but there is a line and dammit if they don't tap-dance all over it sometimes.

I'm getting huge delays loading the pages too (and I've paid so I don't see the ads), so I think the lag today must just be standard Wednesday server overloading.

I logged out to see what this new bar was, and I agree that it's annoying. I hate it when that sort of feature appears on sites, especially the ones that underline key words in articles and tell you to buy things related to that word. They're annoying.

Still, the site has to make money to stay up.

I have noticed a couple days recently where the site seemed bogged down, but didn't associate it with the bar. Just assumed it was overloading. The bottom bar didn't bother me til it was mentioned here, then I just hit the arrow and I can pretend it never happened.

The only annoying thing about it is that I can't pause or turn up the volume of an embeded video because of the "Drag to share" thing.
