Nobody's mentioned Benoit from Silent Bomber yet? Potentially the hardest boss-fight of the PS1 era, or at least the one that sticks with you the most. Only going back about 3 years ago, he still always managed to crop up in these sort of topics, and usually before the end of page 1!!

More recently, Virgil in DMC3, especially at the top difficulty levels, yellow orb mode. I can manage it on very hard with no items and an 'SS' rank, but DMD is still kicking my ass.

Uh there's this one boss in Persona 4 who literally turns around and bitchslaps you in the face in I think the third dungeon. It really spikes the difficulty, partly because Black Frost doesn't work against him. Black Frost is stupidly good in the second and third dungeons but he falls off hard after that, think Drake Sword in Dark Souls type falling off. Really good to absolute bollocks in a second.

Ok fine i'll name it but spoilers

Shadow Teddie if you don't realise who i'm going on about. Shadow Rise was deceptively manageable then BOOM FUCK YOU SHADOW TEDDIE IN YOUR FACE!
He is the one reason I had to stop playing Persona 4 for a bit, I lost to him about 5 times in a row and I got a little bit angry so I stopped. Next time I tried though I did him first time so the break served me well, it was pretty damn satisfying.

Recently it would have to be
Senator Armstrong's boss fight, up until that point I had been breezing through the bosses but then he came and ***** slapped me down a peg. I loved the challenge and the music though, one of my favorite boss fights ever and it was so satisfying when I beat his ass.

As difficult a fight as Ornstein/Smough was, it was a damned fantastic fight.

I'm not all that good at Binding of Isaac anyway, but the bosses that always, ALWAYS wreck my shit are Monstro II and Peep.

Fuck Peep. Maybe they're too fast for me.

I don't know if this bastard qualifies as a boss, but Father Kolgrim from Dragon Age: Origins.

This shmuck killed me about 12 times before I changed the difficulty to easier one. Hell, even optional dragon boss in the same location and final battle were not as tough.

If not, then King of Fighters boss. No specifications, pick the one you fancy, because they all are overpowered as hell.
Still, Rugal is sooooo goood:

Rob, brah, punctuation, capitalization and grammar are your friends. English is your first language so you don't have any excuse. I told you before you joined you have to keep a standard for using the language!

The giant mech boss on planet snivelac in Ratchet and Clank 2.
Oh god this boss was freaking insane, I literately started replaying planets just to get enough money to buy the R.Y.N.O II on my first playthrough...
It still wasn't enough.
Uh, you know you're supposed to use the turrets located on top of the buildings to kill him right?

OT: For me this goes WAY back to my SNES days when I was barely...6-7. I absolutely hated the final bosses of all the Megaman X games! Sigma almost always felt like a battle of attrition more than anything. No real weaknesses, and multiple phases mean you'll be out of most kinds of weapon energy and sub-tanks by the end. I still don't like fighting him, even today now that I know about the Hadoken upgrade.
I know that now, he still takes years to kill.

Hahahahaha, this guy...
fought him first as a mage. wound up getting everyone killed but the two of us, he was chasing me around the cavern while I tried to get enough of a lead to cast a spell without getting hit. My friend who was watching this fell out of his chair laughing.

I haven't gotten that far in Dark Souls to take on the Four Kings but I keep them in mind.
Lenus from LOD is a *****, multiple attacks to one turn and she make spells do the full 200% multiplier bonus!

most of these fights I got ninja'd on. so I'll throw one in nobody said

Ares from the first God of War on God mode the first part, not so bad...fighting your doppelgangers....horrible. The second part....ABSOLUTE NIGHTMARE, the guy hits hard and doesn't stop and has counter-attack that leads to a you can't dodge it Insta-kill that makes you have to restart the entire fight over again.

Elizabeth Greene from Prototype 1 wasn't that bad for me all I did was spam devastator attacks but the Supreme Hunter was absolute A-hole on how hard he is. All your attacks seem to do chump change to him add the brief amount of time you have to beat him and its make the fight even harder to finish.
