"Love is like oxygen
You get too much you get too high
Not enough and you're gonna die
Love gets you high

Time is no healer
When you're not there
Lonely fever
Sad words in the air
Some things are better left unsaid
I'm gonna spend my days in bed
I'll walk the streets at night
To be hidden by the city lights city lights "

to stand up on my own
you have to learn it
from the one who let you go
now I walk alone
yeah, I walk alone."

From: Jack's Mannequin - Kill the Messenger

"And get to church cause you're a good girl, and I never told you that"

I don't know why but it just impacts me no matter how many times I listen to the song.

Personally, I think almost any Muse song can be considered art, but I might be just a little biased.

However, this line stands out for me:
"And I've had recurring nightmares, that I was loved for who I am, and missed the opportunity to be a better man."
From the song, Hoodoo.
That line is so simple, yet so powerful.

One Rap song, by Nas, called Memoy Lane (sittin' in da park), actually makes me feel somewhat emotional. I'll copy and paste some of the lyrics:

Jungle survivor, fuck who's the liver
My man put the battery in my back, a difference from Energizer
Sentence begins indented, with formality
My duration's infinite moneywise or physiology
Poetry, that's a part of me retardedly bop
I drop the ancient manifested hip-hop, straight off the block
I reminisce on park jams, my man was shot for his sheep coat
Chocolate blunts make me see him drop in my weed smoke
It's real, grew up in trife life, did times or white lines
The hype vice, murderous nighttimes, and knife fights invite crimes
Chill on the block with Cognac, hold strap
with my peeps that's into drug money, market into rap

And:

Yo, Fuck "rap is real", watch the herbs stand still
Never talking to snakes 'cause the words of man kill
True in the game, as long as blood is blue in my veins
I pour my Heineken brew to my deceased crew on memory lane

Your hands upon, a dead man's gun
And you're lookin' down the sights
Your heart is worn
And the seams are torn
And they've, given you reason to fight

Excuse me, I have something in my eye...

The song I'll Believe In Anything by Wolf Parade. I dare anyone to find a song from the last decade NOT by the Flaming Lips that is so mind-numbingly beautiful... If you can get over Krug's voice, that is. Which I can.

Give me your eyes, I need sunshine
Give me your eyes, I need sunshine
Your blood, your bones, your voice, and your ghost

We've both been very brave, walk around with both legs
Fight the scary day, we both pull the tricks out of our sleeves

But I'll believe in anything, and you'll believe in anything
Said I'll believe in anything, and you'll believe in anything

If I could take the fire out from the water, I'd share a life and you'd share a life (2x)
If I could take the fire out from the water
I'd take you where nobody knows you, and nobody gives a damn
Said nobody knows you, and nobody gives a damn

And I could take another hit for you
And I could take away your trips from you
And I could take away the salt from your eyes
And take away the spitting salt in you
And I could give you my apologies
By handing over my neologies
And I could take away the shaking knees
And I could give you all the olive trees as well
Oh look at the trees and look at my face and look at a place far away from here

Give me your eyes, I need sunshine
Give me your eyes, I need sunshine
Your blood, your bones, your voice, and your ghost

We've both been very brave, walk around with both legs
Fight the scary day, we both pull the tricks out of our sleeves

But I'll believe in anything, and you'll believe in anything

If I could take the fire out from the water, I'd share a life and you'd share a life (2x)
If I could take the fire out from the water
I'd take you where nobody knows you and, nobody gives a damn
I said nobody knows you, and nobody gives a damn
I said nobody knows you, and nobody gives a damn either way
About your blood, your bones, your voice, and your ghost
Because nobody knows you
And nobody gives a damn either way

And now I'll believe in anything and you'll believe in anything
Because nobody knows you, and nobody gives a damn either way
Last decade? I'm pretty sure Cast was 90's, and they are beautiful.

From green to red our days pass by
Waiting for a sign to tell us why
Are we dancing all alone?
Collect some stars to shine for you
And start today, there's only a few
A sign of times, my friend...

Also this line from the song The World Is Yours always seems very striking to me.

I'm the young city bandit, hold myself down singlehanded
For murder raps, I kick my thoughts alone, get remanded
Born alone, die alone, no crew to keep my crown or throne
I'm deep by sound alone, caved inside in a thousand miles from home

America, by Simon and Garfunkel. That one part where he yells,

"'Kathy, I'm lost,' I said, though I knew she was sleeping
I'm empty and aching and I don't know why!"

It just sends chills down my spine every time. Listen to it here:

There's several, but one stands out as the one that never fails to impress, especially when combined with the music. It's a segment from Slaying the Prophets ov Isa by Behemoth. And yes, I love darker lyrics.

Great architect
Charlatan ov fairy tales
Thou hast failed
Since the hour bastard spawn
Who was vomited forth
From a gasping wound ov a whore
Father, forgive me not
For I have sinned
Now tremble and fear
And mercy have not upon me
Begotten son I am not
Adversary ov Thy love
The outcast ov Thy paradise
Despised...

Agreed. It's pure musical and lyrical perfection.

Radiohead's Fitter Happier is perhaps the creepiest thing I've ever heard. I'd link to the lyrics, but they just don't do the full experience justice.

I don't want to live
To waste another day
Underneath the shadow of mistakes I made
'Cause I feel like I'm breaking inside
I don't want to fall and say I lost it all
'Cause there's a part of me to hit the wall
Leaving pieces of me behind
