"The Ouya is soon to arrive at the doors of consumers, a whole new era of gaming is coming! It's open source! It's a real game changer!"

Personally I like the concept of an Ouya but don't care much for it nor will I invest in one quite yet, I see it becoming an emulation device or cheap computer.

Thoughts and feelings?

About the same as you, I like the concept, but I have a feel it will be a ton of mobile games, rip offs (like in the Google/iTunes stores), and maybe three "real" games. I'll probably hold off until it gets something I can't play on my phone.

It basically combines the worst of both worlds (low-end console specs & lack of mobility). I don't see this becoming a game changer at all as people will play Android games on their phone...why buy a console for it?

It wouldn't suprise me if this failed as a console (unfortunate timing coming out as the next generation is about ready), but succeeded as a general media server device like the Boxee Box.

Since I am developing a game I am very excited for this myself. I think it will have A LOT of awesome titles from the indie market if for no other reason than because there is literally no reason for a designer NOT to put there game on it. It costs nothing and the system is $100 and comes with a dev kit pre-installed.

My only concern is that people are really hating on it and for the most part for no real reason. Literally anything they can find to hate on it they take and I can't figure out why. It is like people don't understand that how big of a achievement it is to enter into the console market from literally nothing some people would have said it was impossible. It costs next to nothing so ya it won't have the most impressive specs but at the same time I don't think it would be possible for a company to put out a new system that powerful without being long established before hand.

It could become the new Wii, as in super cheap family gaming.
The only question is if they can capture enough of a market and if enough games come with it to justify having one.

And obviously you get the upside of an open platform(or so they claim) for people who want to expand later on.

I feel like the term 'real' games should:
A: not apply to the Ouya considering it's running on android specifically so it can appeal to that market and try to improve it.
B: stop being used at all, it's a stupid way of trying to put across the idea >_>.

Edit:

I apologize if it seems like i'm attacking you specifically, you just happened to be the person who reminded me of it.
