You know the one (or more) that I mean. That bad dream that you end up remembering for years and years to come. Whether it's because the dream was so darn horrifying or just flat out bizarre, it stuck with you.

For me, I was 5 years old when I had a nightmare that I can still recall. My dad and I are driving along the highway when suddenly a massive tornado appears on the horizon. We make a u-turn (we're the only ones on the highway, so why not) when, in the distance, another two tornadoes appear.
Next thing I know we're surrounded by tornadoes, all closing in on our car. My dad floors the pedal as he turns the car off the road. Even though we must be going at least 80 the tornadoes are still gaining on us. Next thing I know I'm sucked right out the window, and the ground plummets away from me.
This is when I woke up, scared out of my wits. And the memory of the nightmare still lingers to this day (obviously).

So what is your unforgettable nightmare/s? I suppose non-nightmarish memorable dreams can count as well.

The nightmare I remember is a lot less... tangible.

I used to have night terrors as a child, I would wake up feeling ridiculously upset, but I have no idea why.

All I remember is this feeling of pressure, like a pulsing in my head that made my vision feel intense, increased heart rate, it was very strange, made me feel very uneasy, very hard to fathom.

Very occasionally, I wake up with that same feeling and I still have no idea what it is.

I'm in my front yard. It's night, or at least it's dark. Unnaturally dark. Like you could cut the darkness with a knife.

I'm sitting on top of my slide. I'm terrified. Whimpering and crying and barely able to breathe.
Every scream I let out illuminates the darkness long enough to see all of the things that are closing in on me, slowly. Then the light dies away and it's black again.

Haven't had that one in some time, but I always woke up before the inhabitants of the shade got to me.

There were two types of nightmares I think I had most frequently that they're the first ones that come to mind when I ponder over my childhood nightmares.

First? I get eaten by a bear. It was probably most frightening in its vagueness. I never saw the pair. There was no sensation of being eaten. I'm just suddenly on my knees, in this really narrow void and I know it's the inside of the bear. And I cry cause I know I've been eaten.

Second is just a standard chase dream but I don't get anywhere because just when I get far, I'm suddenly being pulled backwards. Like I just start running backwards and I can't seem to stop myself.

Wow how apt this be in a gaming forum mine is brought on by a small 2D tunnel filled with spike on each side that you must swim through lest you want to die, It feels very much like Donkey Kong Country and after it fit perfectly to your size the sea get darker and darker until you die.

Also yes I do die in nightmares, I have hit my swimming spikes, hit the ground from several miles up, and exploded then in death stayed aware of myself like i was waiting for a re-spawn or something.

I had one that would recur every time I wore a specific outfit to bed. Basically, I would somehow walk outside my old elementary school to the giant hill behind it, and there would be all these people there. At the top of the hill, I would notice this little ribbon-tornado-thing shoot out of the trees near the foot and disappear, then suddenly reappear right in front of my face. It would run into me, then teleport me to some very strange garden place. I would start walking apprehensively, then after a bit, there would be this enormous explosion of colors and I would wake up terrified.

I remember having this one a few times as a kid. Basically, my family went to the opening of Jurassic Park (as in, the dino zoo that the book/movie was about, not the movie) and I knew that the dinosaurs were going to get loose and the events of the movie were going to happen to us, but nobody would believe me. And then the dinosaurs got loose and the events of the movie happened, with us in the middle of it.

Oh, and the kicker? After I had had the dream a few times, I was aware within the dream that all of this had happened before. That seemed to happen with every recurring dream I had; if it was actually recurring, I'd know that it was recurring while it was happening.

I've occasionally had dreams like this after marathon FPS sessions, literally getting shot and then waiting to respawn.

I have a recurring nightmare that started when I was 12 or so. I'm inside a cylindrical building, inside there is a bench right in the middle of the room and the floor is dirt and grass. I sit in on the bench and before my eyes I see a pin needle slowly coming down from the roof and stopping at eye level. I stare at this pin needle for maybe 10 seconds and then it drops to the floor and the ceiling comes down really fast, I feel compressed and just before it's about to land on me it stops and slowly goes back up. Then I get up and get right back on the bench and same thing happens over and over and over... it's a really weird dream. Anybody know what's up with that?

Oh and recently i've been having these dreams where it's early morning, the sun is coming in through the window and i'm in bed. Thing is I cannot move, my eye lids have this huge pressure on them and I can just barely open them for miliseconds at a time and all around me I hear nasty guttural noises. I can also hear people dying and being slashed. It's a pretty scary dream.

Any psychology experts wanna tell me if i'm screwy in the head ?

I have one of drowning, actually partly related to Sonic The Hedgehog. It's actually quite funny when I think about it, but I had this one where I was struggling in the water (specifically the River Tay), and eventually going under, I "heard" (since it's a dream obviously) the Sonic 1 drowning music with all of it's speeding up, until I died in the dream. Actually meant I couldn't play past Spring Yard Zone for the longest amount of time after it. And I had repercussions of it after some drowning puzzle on one of the Onimusha games as well.

The dream I will never forget, was at age 5.

It was me living my regular life but thing's where much worse, it was like mad maxx if you will. Then near the end I was told that this life was a lie and I was to leave my life and return to my lost one through a pathway. And right as I walked into the pathway I woke up.

While not terrible scary that freaking haunted me, I thought that my whole life was a lie for like 5 minutes and that this was my new life. Thats way to damn deep for a 5 year old.

Not me, but my flatmate has one. Whenever he goes to sleep on caffeine he dreams about the evil wallace and grommit penguins trying to take over the world. So far he hasn't managed to stop them

I have never had a nightmare in my entire life.
Oh yes you did!
No I haven't.

I have had disturbing dreams, but none that have frightened me.
Everyone will eventually have nightmares. It is a natural sleep response to emotional turmoil. If someone you know is dealing with something tough, always ask them how well they are sleeping at night.

There was this weird-ass dream where I could run incredibly fast, and I was in a dark arena place; I knew there were hills, and I was being chased by something, and it was the fact I only saw the thing at the end of my dream made it even more freaky. I can't remember the creature exactly, but it looked like a cross between all the Frictional Games monsters and Fallout 3/Fallout NV's Centaur

Hmm... The only nightmare that I can remember having is this: I was riding in a car with my parents and we come across a flooded river with a broken bridge. My parents seem to agree that they think they can jump it, much against my objections. They floor it and, at the last second, swerve off the road and into the river while completely missing the bridge.

Things I learned from this: I'm scared of water, I have trust issues, and apparently my brain just loves twist endings.

I dreamt that my uncle slit my dad's throat right in front of me and he was stalking me with a knife in plain sight while everyone around me were completely ignoring him. I call for help but people just look at me like I'm crazy. Then I just woke up actually in tears. I don't know why I dreamt that my uncle would do that. He's one of the nicest guys I know. It really made the next couple of times I saw him awkward. :/
