That Was Disappointing

So, Christmas is just around the horizon. Here in upstate New York, we celebrate around the Saratoga area by closing off the entire main street and hosting a Christmas festival called "The Victorian Walk". People can dress up in Victorian era clothing, eat, talk with Santa, get face painting, enjoy caroling, and all sorts of events.

Well, a group of friends and I every year get dressed up and hand out free cookies to children. The problem is there are only a few of us and being college students, we don't have a hell of a lot of time and money with finals coming up. So this year I decided at my local work to put up a beautiful sign, asking associates to donate to the cause.

The grand thing was so many people were excited to do so. To get into the holiday spirit and help us make these childrens night a little more enjoyable with free goodies. It was wonderful to see so many people excited.

The event is tomorrow, and I came to work to pick up the cookies. Only thing was, there were none. Only one person donated their home baked goodies, and they weren't even home baked.

Good news is we ended up digging out enough couch coins to buy some mix and baked some ourselves all night and day (Oh god me baking, those poor children...). After over 17 hours of baking snacks, we are finally resting. Tomorrow evening will be quite thrilling overall.

So, I suppose my disappointment for the week was the fact that not one person was willing to assist even though they had previously informed me they would. Now I understand everyone has their own priorities, and I would much rather them take care of those first, but I guess I was a little sad today to see after a whole month of my sign being up no one could make some time for a holiday event

Topic: So how about you guys? Any events that have occurred in your lives recently, large or small, that have caused a bit of upset for you?

Off topic: For anyone curious, I am using an old Luka outfit I made for my Victorian dress this year. Although I am sad to say it's not very Victorian, once again I am a poor pathetic college student, so Ive placed a shawl over the exposed shoulders and am hoping no one will really notice. xD If you'd like to check it out, it's here:

Disappointment is something I have to deal a lot with. People telling me they want to hang out just to seem polite then not even turning up or getting back to me.

I've just stopped expecting stuff from people.

(Also, had a look at your cosplays, they're phenomenal!)

I don't have much in the way of disappointment outside of the video game side. Probably because I can't be bothered to leave the house but shut up.

So i'll go with BlazBlue CS Extend's online being more dead than i'd hoped. It's definitely alive still and somehow i'm not getting the pr0 100-0 combo people at all which is nice. The single player is amazing though, UMVC3 kinda made me forget how fighting games can do single player well.

Oh and a few days ago I tried to play a Ranked game of LoL. I was so hopeful! I could ban Blitzcrank and get away from the Blitz/Leona F2P hell week!

Lol jk Jungle Taric who went AFK after 10 minutes. Nobody even blinked when he picked it as well. Like people think Taric jungle is good... Or even viable. I was playing Diana as well... I could totally carry the game if it wasn't 4v5. Maybe. We were doing kinda decent in teamfights for a time.

Learned my lession, i'm back to my Normals. Randomers are still randomers even in Ranked. Never forget that.

I don't get disappointed by others often. mostly because I don't really have any people I speak to offline, and I try not to depend on anyone.

I'm usually the one who disappoints :(
I can be honest: I'm extremely flakey and unreliable. not proud of it, and I usually don't plan it(except in rare cases with people I hate)

I agree to help people with things, and then I don't. usually because enough time passes that it just doesn't feel urgent anymore.

I guess what I mean is that people are unreliable unless the thought of what they agreed to is IN THEIR FACE. If you give people half a chance, they'll flake out on you. the key, I think, is to remind them of their aggrement subtly when the time draws near so the obligation is a thing of the present instead of a thing of the past.

it is a rare and valuable personality that adhere's to promises nowdays. At least in my circles.

The radio station I work for does an annual charity auction to raise money to buy warm winter clothes for local children who need it. We rely on our listeners and local businesses to donate items for us to auction off on the air. In order to fill all 30 hours of the live auction, we need between 1,500 and 1,700 items. The auction starts next Friday, December 7th at noon, and even though we've been begging for donations for a month now, we only have somewhere between 350 and 400 items. We're not panicking just yet, and I understand that the economy sucks ass, but its still disappointing on a special level.

Two words.

Dead Island.

I'm not even kidding, it's the only game I payed full price for and only played once. It also completely ruined my enthusiasm for games, I haven't completed a game since then..But luckily I bought the Walking Dead on Steam and I can love games again ^_^

I woke up this morning. Poured myself a bowl of cereal. Opened the fridge aaaaaand.... No milk.

Now THAT, people, is the epitome of disappointment.

I ended up in hospital a few months back. My brother hasn't spoken to me since. It sucks.

Well I once try to arrange to meet up with all three mates on the same day to watch Transformers 2. The catch is this was when I had no internet for a month (I cock up the switching the service provider part) so I had to arrange it via text message. Needless to day it was quite annoying without the chat messager as my mates couldn't meet up on certain days like mate 1 can't meet up on Monday and mate 2 will arrive late on Tusday etc.

When I finally did pick the perfect day, a mate had to bail out at the last moment and I just gave up on it.

In hindsight, it probably the best that it didn't came to fruition seeing how the sequel is crap in the end (so not worth getting all of my closest friends to meet up together).

I'm trying to resolve those first two sentences to each other... how did one lead to the other?!

OT: A freshers' party at uni... probably the most turgid affair I could've dreamed of and worse. Forked out a fair bit of money for it and trekked halfway across London as well, wasted two hours just getting back to halls.

*shrug* First thing I could think of... -_-

I've been to two proms, each time with various friends, and no one has ever danced with me.

The first one was for secondary school. My guy friends were outside with their gals, and I was left to dance alone. I went for it and had a whale of a time anyway, but it was a lonely whale.

College prom I thought was a sure fire hit, but not one person danced with me the entire night. Again, it didn't stop me but considering I had a boyfriend, four girlfriends and a Nice Guy with me at the time, I got disappointed again.

After three hours dancing with myself I thought fuck it and went and got drunk in a gazebo. We had some good times me and that gazebo.

I expected to play more games at my friend's birthday celebration.

We did play a while with LAN. The last night we were there, they decided to go to a strip club, which wasn't my thing so I stayed at their's playing Sonic Adventure 2.

This situation is more a disappointment since I missed all the fun they were having just because I probably wouldn't have enjoyed the experience.

Well... not really. I suppose I was disappointed by AC3, but that's because I hyped myself up a little too much (I've spent literally all year telling people it can't be as good as 2 was, and here I am...). Oh, and a few months ago I finally got to putting up all my fucking rad posters only to find out I don't quite have enough room for all of them. Too bad for the Contra 4 poster. It's so 80's.

I remember that there was a girl in my group that I went to prom with who didn't have a date and I felt bad for her. Then I remembered that out of the four Sadie Hawkins dances we had in high school I did not get asked to a single one and I stopped feeling bad. Not that I'm saying your'e a bad person or anything just relating an experience.

OT: The Pep Rally. In case anyone doesn't know what a pep rally is, it's a big assembly put on each year before the Homecoming football game and its supposed to pysch people up for the game. The Rallies are traditionally basically all about the seniors and all the games that they play are designed to humiliate the underclassmen and all the jokes that they tell are supposed to be inside jokes among the seniors.
Yeah but that wasn't really the case. I don't know why, probably some administration, but they told probably like two jokes the whole pep rally and all they did were really terrible musical performances. It sucked because your senior pep rally is supposed to be "THE THING" senior year and it was super lame.

The Dmc Demo, its hard to want to like something only for the dev team behind it to destroy the very source material it is based on. I guess the same can be said about Transformers films, and book to movie adaptations that have recently made me cringe so hard I had to re-staple my face on my head.

I recently made friends with someone in my 1st period Shakespeare class, she is literally the cutest most attractive nerd who shares my love for film, and she is taken by some college bro. Whoever you are dude, treat her well cause you have your self a keeeeeper.

I just beat Persona 4, I can never play it for the first time ever again... T_T

This Senior year me and my friends we're planning on showing up to school as the classic Power Rangers for Halloween, i didn't happen. Oh God why!

I'm not sure I'm following you. I can be considered a bad person because I went out to a dance with some friends and I'm disappointed I didn't get danced with? How does that work?

I get that it's not world-endingly disappointing not to be danced with at two dancing specific events, but I didn't think there was an angst quota for this thread.

You know what else was disappointing? My last holiday. It was an all inclusive in Tunisia, where you can't drink the water or you'll get sick. The place didn't provide bottled water, it advertised ice cream it didn't have, the drinks were watered down (with what I don't want to think) and the "venison" sure looked a lot like stray cat. Disappointment central.

I recently saw Brave.

It ranks right up there with John Carter as the most bland and uninspired waste of time this year.
