So I tried playing Bloodborne and...
I enjoy the game, okay? I love almost everything about it, the entire game just fucking drips with Gothic Van Helsing style horror atmosphere, the soundtrack is enjoyable, the PS4 has trouble maintaining an adults framerate at times, especially online but I'll live and it's probably my internet connection doing that anyway. It's nothing like Blight Town's hardcore fuck up.
I enjoy the new, aggressive play style and find it a change that flipped the entire game over on its head but somehow didn't sacrifice the feeling of methodical caution I'd come to associate with the Soul's games.
You know what really sticks a pineapple up my ass and twists, though? These fucking load screens. Each death has me sit though a load screen I simply don't have the patience for any more. Each time I want to go back to the Hunters Dream, each time I want to go back to a specific area, a load screen has me wait just a bit longer than I should to rear its head.
The first time I saw it, I actually believed this was one of those "Press any button to continue" things and that I hadn't realized that I was looking at a menu screen.
And the sad thing is, I know for a cold, hard fact that I would GLADLY have sat through load screens five times longer in the PS2 era.
