Listen to noisecore, it is legitimately meaningless noise; that's the point of the genre.

I immediately thought of the Zero Punctuation theme song when I read the title...

OT: I don't know any music that I like that everyone else think is meaningless noise. Sorry.

Ahem, he uses samples from all over the place. Listen to something other than Rossz :>

Anyway, yes, Venetian Snares has been criticised as meaningless noise by a few of my friends. They claim it has no beat because it isn't in 4... makes sense.

I love techno. The kind I listen to is more simulated sounds than simulated instruments (Think Portal 2 over Deadmau5). I like the sound of everything jumbled up together, like playing a bunch of songs at once. However, this can be passed off as random computer sounds, and people generally don't like it. On the other hand, if I play it loud enough, it keeps people away from my house.

I enjoy chiptune, but even most gamers seem to dismiss it as nothing but NES nostalgia.

And even then, few people who acknowledge that chiptune outside of old games exists, its mostly chiptune trying to be something its not, or bad automated 8-bit covers.

What just kills me the most, though, is when people insist that no sounds produced by a computer can ever compare to an analogue instrument.

I'm sorry, but no. I'm not that musically inclined, but I'm into fine art, and even there, analog is not God.
Just out of curiosity, do you by any chance listen to Machinae Supremacy?

I can't think of any music that I like that would be considered meaningless by any stretch of the imagination... Also, I was going to listen to the video you have there and comment on how, while I don't like it, it has some value...

It really doesn't. Sorry. :/

How doesn't it have value? It qualifies as music, and I know several people who love this band and who's lives have been enriched by it.

My mom will occasionally make a remark like "I don't see why anyone would actually buy a game soundtrack" (this was when I got the Halo 2 soundtrack for a couple of bucks at a library sale), and I immediately want to point out all the game music that she would actually like.

Oh... I listened to it again and realised that I can't make out the lyrics because they're speaking another language...
Sorry, that was a mistake, I can't pass judgement on it without knowing the language it's in.

But....but....they're awesome! That's one of my favorite songs by them, and "no lyrics"? They need to be slapped.

OT: I was listening to Corelli's Christmas Concerto once and I was told it was crap and stupid. Apparently he didn't like it because it's old and is boring, and "if it doesn't have guitars, I'm not interested."

I would've hit him but he moved away fast enough after the look I shot him.

Anything that's not country or stuff from before the metal scene is "noise" to my dad.

Personally, I think all music, whether I like it or not, is more than just noise.

Although... Bathroy Else-whatever-the-hell-it-is by SUN 0))) is definitely a qualifier. Such a strange song...

Rumor has it they locked a claustrophobic fellow in a coffin and recorded it, and set it to drone metal.

I listen to metal almost exclusively and I am so tired of listening to my friends bash the music I love.

It's in Swedish, it's called "The last song I write to you".

OT: This Kesha girl. Her music is just unbearable. It's amazing you can make a song out of a useless phrase. I think she uses the same beat/melody for every song, too.

Terrible...

Music I like? Persona 3 or 4. This stuff is gold.

Different music appeals to different people for different reasons. I generally don't let other peoples' opinions bother me too much.

Pretty much every band I like. Metalhead right here.
I'll link one song in particular that I've been called out on. I don't like this song that much, but some of the instrumentation is kind of catchy. I only had it on at the time though because Windows Media Player was playing through my library and I didn't realise it had moved onto Mors Principium Est. I was concentrating on other things at the time. One of my mum's now-exes walked in while I was listening to it, he said something along the lines of "What's that noise?" I said music, he gave me a look and the usual "That's music?!". Yeah.
That was an unnecessarily long description on what happened. Basically, this song:
I usually listen to more melodic stuff than that, so I don't get that much hassle for it my taste when people actually hear it, but still more than is comfortable.

AHGH!!! The horrible music! Time to put some real shit here.

At my school the majority of people there listen to pop/pop metal and they basically cringe in terror at what I listen to.
