If you are given 10 Terabyte of hard drive to build your own open game world, what would it be?

Hmm...maybe a big Flight Sim with real terrain, cities and vegetation on the ground.

Also, i always had the idea of a game where you are some Airforce Pilot or something who crashes behind enemy lines and have to get back to safety by crossing a huge valley, filled with dense forests, small towns, bases and everything. Since i would like to have a consistent Gameworld without any linear paths, loading times or artificial fog that is ALSO so big that it would take five or six hours to cross even if you could sprint all the way through it in a straight line without interruption, at least one or two terabyte would seem appropriate for that kind of game

I'd steal the hard drive and sell it for a bottle of Jack and a trigger-happy tranny named Kinky Renee.

Either that or I'd leave it blank and leave a whole bunch of tools at the players disposal. Ideally, it would be an online game where dozens of denizens of the world would have to decide what to do with the place. [Irony] It would be interesting to see what people would do with it[/Irony]

Lets take that further. Not only do you have to avoid the dogs, as you do more papers your endurance and speed slowly raise (in a morrowindistic fashion). But at the same time, the dogs become more powerful the more you get away.

At the same time, you have to take on more and more paper routes to feed your smack addiction.

But, for my own Idea. Pulling from what the fellow above me said abotu a giant snake game. I would think something more like an epicly huge FP/TP Pong game using beach ball sized ball and everyone has giant paddles on their heads. I guess 4 players per team and differing positions. Occasionally wind would come and blow some people away for a period of time!

Basically just create a huge world with realistic levels of detail and varied environments (desert/forest/plains/mountains) around any of the standard genres. Incorporating realtime day/night cycles, weather, and life necessities of your character (eating/pooping/shelter/appropriate clothing/etc) would be cool too.

I'd create a backup copy of my own consciousness and then give it an awesome robot body. Immortality here I come...

Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory. It would have every department described in the books, from the Chocolate River (which has complete plumbing) to the room of Strawberry Juice Water Pistols.

No. You just deliver papers. There's about four levels. And in each levels there are more dogs. Not too many but. Let's keep it simple people.

A star wars game with every last planet in the galaxy detailed down to the centimeter.
Sweet. But what time period I wonder? If they ever tried a sequel to SW Galaxies, trying to correct all the mistakes of it's predecessor, I would reccomend immediate post-Return of the Jedi as a 'starting time'. Like, Palpatine just now died, that fact has just now been broadcast. Suddenly like a dozen high-profile Imperials become rogue Warlords with their own little realms. There's rioting on Coruscant's streets, celebrating and anarchism on quite a few others. What will THIS character (your character) decide to do with the rest of their life after becoming aware of this huge fact? And NO, the answer is not fashion a bunch of clothes or dance half-naked in a Cantina.

Seeing as how I should post my own idea, not just expand on Anarchemitis', how about one of the more popular Mecha Anime worlds fully rendered online? Or, to avoid copyright hassles, just create a realistic-looking one similar to a majority of them with a lot more variation for said mechas.

The Earth itself in exact CG replica (assuming the disasters that would follow the following scenario) is infested by zombies of all kinds from every media source that has had zombies.
Purge the Earth of the undead.

A million player global warfare simulator with a real-sized replica of Earth. It would be a mix of RTS/FPS/RPG. As you grow in ranks, you'd have control over more and more players.A noob would be some random soldier. As he progressed he'd use better weapons, take control of vehicles and others. When he was experienced enough, he'd get to command his own group of players.Obviously he'd still get orders from people above him, yet he'd be able to use special abilities to aid his platoon.Imagine being a leader and killing half a million players with a nuke.

David Bowies Adventures in Hell. A sandbox game that is, secretly, more linear than missionary position but has 80 different endings, and requires you to have video cards that don't exhist yet to play. Also, it would make Mountain Dew smoothies out of orphan parts.
Spy sappin' mah drawin' board! Sounds like Mercenaries HD to me.

If the world that we build can include information about NPC's, have a game that's set in a sizeable town, but still only a few miles square. Now give every NPC the interactivity, personality and creativity of a human, populate the town with them, and make give every building and indoors environments, with seamless loading. And no copying and pasting buildings or their indoors into other places, you cheapskates. All as individual as real homes.

I'd play that.

Like this, but completely complex. Go from the original infestation when you get confused news stories, keep going as more and more appear the Government trying to calm things down, the army deployed etc etc. Eventually it turns into a full blown outbreak.
Include some system that either forces players to be zombies if they're infected or have a limited number of playable characters so that you can't constantly reroll everytime you die.
