I see mainstream game "journalism" outlets continue to disappoint. I guess it's too much to hope that they actually attempt some basic fact checking before pushing a story through. Hell, I wouldn't put it past them to deliberately omit the sordid details on Mauer's end in favor of pushing an agenda or deliberately courting controversy.

Eh I wouldn't give them too much credit. To my knowledge only Destructoid has done a story about it. Anyone see if Kotaku or Polygon have done a story? Even IGN maybe?

That's the funny thing. If they jump in fast, they get the story wrong or incomplete. If they wait for the dust to settle enough to accurately check the facts, it pretty much is old news already for the community.

Eh true enough. I suppose it makes sense that way if you step back and look at it. But with each week and escalating thing she does, it would have surprised me if none of the big sites addressed it.

Then again I don't visit most sites anymore.

But there was a site that did a story. Ars Technica posted a story and if Sidalpha is right, sounds like a rehash of the Destructoid article with just enough changed to not be plagiarism.

Anyone read Ars Technica? First time I've heard of the site.

Ars used to be a respected and in-depth tech site, but their gaming has always been shit. Their first gaming editor was Ben Kuchera, and after the site was bought out by Cond?-Nast, it has turned into a click bait shitshow. Kyle Orland has posted some hilariously obvious Microsoft shilling sales analysis and lots of moronic white liberal handwringing pieces. I used to go there daily, but now avoid it entirely.
