With Mass Effect swamping the Gaming Discussion Board, let's talk about something else for a change. Kind of a random thread, but a place where we can discuss different games and avoid the rage and gushing.

So, Bioshock 2 was on the Steam Sale. I've played the first and I really liked it, but I heard that the PC version of 2 was extremely glitchy and buggy compared to consoles. I'm still interested, but I want to hear someone's opinion before I go ahead.

And, random topic discussion for anything else not Mass Effect 3 related.

"Alternative" thread you say?

Well, how about Muv-Luv: Alternative?

I just finished it last week and damn was that one hell of a ride...[sub]despite some obvious flaws.[/sub]

It's a shame that only like...four people...have probably experienced it on this website.

Speaking of Skyrim, I haven't played in a while. Any new mods you could recommend?

That thread saturation actually got me over my lazy hump and I finally finished the script that removes all keyword threads from my page, life is so much simpler afterwards.

As for Bioshock 2 I really don't recall any glitches as far as ports go it was probably among the best, then again the bar is so very low.
But I didn't much care for the game itself, sure it blows any modern grayness out the window but we have experienced the city before, the shock and awe is gone.
And even the new spin "you are the big daddy now" didn't rekindle my love because it was done all wrong, you were actually no stronger then the first guy, you again wield all the powers which no other daddy does, and that drill arm seems to be made of paper... felt to me like they just put a new skin on your arms and off we go.

But Infinity is coming to fix the error of their ways, I actually haveto stop watching those trailers because it already feels like they spoiled all the new ideas.

Currently 12/25 threads on the front page are about ME3 for me...urgh.

Has anyone else still been playing minecraft recently? Despite all the negative press 1.0 got about being rushed it's actually really good now...the game seems finished for once, although I'm fairly sure they'll continue adding more stuff.

All these Mass Effect threads are making my head spin. Can't tell you of cribbly crawly bugs in Bioshock 2, but I can tell you that the story is better than they say. Personally, it wasn't as much as an incredible experience as the first, but still nice to hear another story of Rapture.

Interesting you should say that, me and my friends just started playing again. Currently hollowing out a mountain and the mines beneath it for our little dwarf city. I've build a large underground garden, with an artificial sun of glass and lava, and canals of water. My centerpiece tree keeps catching fire though, it is quite vexing.

I haven't been able to get minecraft to work on my computer ever since the update that added endermen. It's too bad since it was looking pretty good with lots of new things but now I can't even get 5 mins in without crashing.
From what I was able to play when it was working at first though, it's gotten a lot better.

Me and a friend had a great survival game where it spawned us in the middle of an ocean. We had one small island for a house and then another one not far off with some caves. Since they added hunger we had to live off of rotting zombie flesh and whatever fish we could catch while trying to grow food on another island.

I was going to turn this into a bacon related thread but then I realised that I'm in gaming discussion.

So um...OH YEAH!

I just got a mod on the steam workshop that lets you spend dragon souls on perks, pretty nifty imo.

I actually have Bioshock 2 already, I bought it in another Steam sale, the Winter one last year, I think. I've heard mixed things about it, but I might try it out soon, depending on what the answers are in this thread. The two so far are at the opposite end of the spectrum.

I also saw the Civ5 is on sale now at something crazy like 75% off. I'm debating whether to buy it or not, again, I've heard mixed things about it, but at a price like 10 euros, I imagine it's hard to imagine really that much a waste of my money, consindering I enjoyed Civ3 and Civ4 immensily.

As for games I'm playing right now, it's primarily Saint's Row 3. It's so hilariously over-the-top, I'm really enjoying it a lot. I haven't played any of the other SR games, so I can't really say how it compares, just that I really like this one. I'm also playing Eufloria from time to time. It's a great game for when I feel like listening to some music. It's a great little game, even if it can get repetitive in the long run.

Wow, we're doing pretty much the same - just taking a hill & hollowing it out. We've currently got about ten trees and ten very long rows dedicated to growing wheat/cacti/pumpkins, along with a load of coops for chickens, pigs & cows. We probably need to add more defences with lava :( I wish it worked with infiwells like water does.

Does it not give an error code or anything? I've encountered loads more water worlds ever since the 0.8 update, maybe Notch made them more common. They are brilliant fun, the problem is getting wood for boats though...everything else is relatively easy.

Would you be willing to share this script? It'd be nice to be able to go to Gaming Discussion without wanting to throw something at the screen every 30 seconds.

No it was a normal world, we just started in the sea. Eventully we managed to make a boat and set sail. We eventully found some mainland although it was pretty much all swamp for a while so we sailed our boats in there.

This situation with GAME UK, I did go in to gamestation yesterday and picked up Yakuza 3, Ratchet and Clank ToD, Mass Effect 2 and Saints Row 2 for £18.

While im.happy at the bargain I got, I cant help but feel it could be the last purchase I make in there, and it kind of makes me feel a little down/nervous.

No problem, man, I hope she enjoys it. I'm probably going to shell out the money for it, because as it said, I think it's hard to go wrong with that favourable a price. I can't see myself not enjoying the game, despite hearing comments about it being "dumbed down". It got pretty stellar reviews from what I can see on wiki.

No im not but thats only because its pretty expensive atm and I have a lot of other games to play I will probably get it eventually though is it any good?

I have just recently purchased ultimate marvel vs capcom 3 to give you an idea of the lag I allow to buy a lot of games.

Wasnt/isnt there a lot of complaints about DLC on this game as well? The only other reason I am holding off on this game is for the probability of an upgraded version (I think they have said that wont happen but I choose not to take their word for it as they are hardly likely to say yeah there is an upgraded one coming out in a few months so hold off until then).
