All this talk about not paying DLC for locked content. It is mostly justified. Though, it does make me wonder if you would by DLC at all?

So here's my question: Riddle me this! (Yes, I've been playing too much Arkham City, shut up) What company, video game, and/or franchise WOULD you buy DLC for?

I ain't talking downloadable games, those are different, I mean add-on content for an already existing game or downloads that unlock such content?

My pick would be Rocksteady Games. They've made 2 of the most fantastic games ever, and one underrated gem. I have bought all the DLC for Arkham Asylum and intend to do the same for Arkham City (don't worry, I'll shut up about the game eventually). Why? Because Rocksteady deserves that money; I they've went beyond the expectations of many gamers and Batman fans alike to make a game that not just qualifies as a Batman game, but also a true work of art (in my opinion). I want them to use this money to continue making such fantastic games!

I?d buy DLC for any game I like .

It?s a nice way to support the developers
and if I like the game enough to buy DLC in it, then I probably want to see more of it anyway.

I buy DLC often if it's decent. I'm gonna buy the Robin and Nightwing DLC, I haven't got Arkham City because my exams aren't over.

I don't think I'd pin my DLC downloading habits to any one developer. It has to be on a game-by-game basis for me. I don't like having broad categories for something like what I spend my money on.

On that note, I'll likely get the story DLC for Assassin's Creed 2 and Brotherhood. Not entirely up for strictly multiplayer stuff that isn't free. Same goes for Revelations. I got Bring Down the Sky for Mass Effect 1 and everything besides the costumes for ME2. If the game comes with a GOTY Edition, then I'll likely wait for that and get it instead of buying the DLC. It's cheaper that way. Did that for Oblivion, Fallout 3, and Borderlands.

I've never bought any DLC except for Grand Theft Auto: Episodes From Liberty City (the two episodic expansion packs for Grand Theft Auto IV on a standalone Blu-Ray disc) and it was the best money I ever spent.

I can pay for DLC in Bugs now? Count me in, so much easier than paying in real money... That is some real disjointed english there...

I all seriousness I buy DLC on a game to game basis and whether or not said DLC is of good value. Although I will admit to some impulse buys such as a weapon skin pack in GoW 3.

I love DLC, first thing when I buy a new game is to see if it has DLC.
Hell, I even bought the horse armour for Oblivion.

Why you ask, why would I pay money for such a pointless thing.
"Because I can."
I have the money, I'll have a beer less next time if I go out and nothing is wasted.
It looks kinda neat and I like owning everything my favourite games have to offer.

Is it a sound economical idea, no.
Did I get enough content for the price, no.
Would I do it again if Skyrim did it, hells yes.

I quite like the odd bit of DLC so long as it adds something besides game breaking weapons so I might not be the best person to reply to this thread. However I would like to ask if the Riddler shows up as more than a dickhead who leaves random objects scattered around the game for no reason. He does that in the comics I know but I don't want to be reminded what a dick he is, I want him to be cool.

On topic I think Bioware DLC is my favourite. It tends to add a decent sized mission so you get good value for money. Blazblue DLC is interesting too, the new characters they've released have all been interesting in their own way.

Well, I bought every single DLC item for New Vegas the second it came out.

And I am pretty sure I bought every DLC for ME2 as well, (DLc with story anyway, not the extra items)

And a Few map packs for CoD (yeah I know)

DLCs are inherently doomed to failed. The basic idea about DLCs are that they should expand the game, right? Thing is; if they continue to build the main story, that means you're buying an incomplete game. This will piss people off.

However, if you expand the game through side-stories, few people will be ready to pay 10-15 bucks for just an extra quest/mission and/or a few items. As such, it just wouldn't be economically viable to make DLCs, rather than start making a sequal, or just another game in general.

Personally, I only buy DLCs by buying a Game of the Year edition or some such, where you get the full game plus all DLCs for just slightly more than what the game cost at retail without DLCs.

I don't usually download DLC, but if I did it'd probably be stuff for Valve games...I dunno.

I usually only buy DLC when it comes with a final edition of a game when the game has been out for a while. This was the case for ultimate edition of DA:O and the GOTY-edition of Oblivion.

If it's a game I really like, then yeah, DLC extends the game and makes me want to play the game again and again.
