John returned home after a [em]LONG[/em] day at work. He had to work extra hard for his boss today, to show that he was not a slacker.
"Damn, I wish my car battery wouldn't have died! None of this shit would have happened if my fucking battery hadn't died." He said as he stomped into his apartment.
Right as John was heading to bed he got a phone call from an unknown caller, he picked up the phone said "Hello? Who is this?" And waited for the person on the other end to identify themselves.
"Hey bro!" He heard in a loud, annoying, and unmistakable voice. He pulled the phone away from his ear, as he looked for the volume button.
"Oh, hey David. I am about to head to bed, what do you need?" John said to his little brother.
"Well, dad was admitted into the mental hospital again today, and I think he wants to see you. I am here with him, he is threatening to commit suicide again. This time he found a gun."
"Can I talk to him, David?"
"Yeah, here he is."
John walked out of his apartment to get some fresh air. "Hey dad, how is everything going, is everyone treating you well? I heard you are going to kill yourself if I don't come visit you, is that true? I just got a job here and had to work really hard to keep it, I hope my boss will understand and won't fire me while I am gone."
"Yes, everyone is treating me fine." John heard, an old man speak in a scraggly voice on the other end. "You heard correctly, I will end my life if I don't see you soon, because I feel like we are not a family anymore. You here me, be on you way by tomorrow."
Click, the phone was disconnected. "God damn it, what am I going to do about this. My boss is going to fire me if I miss another day, I am not even unpacked and I need to go all the way back to Alaska. And my car is going to die by the time I get there!" He said to himself while still outside. "My life is in ruins unless I can be two places at once. What if he wants me to stay? Would I be able to bring him here instead? If I bring him back, I will need the house ready for him. Maybe I can give Clay a key and if I need to bring dad home then he can get the rest of these boxes unpacked and the house ready." He continued on, pacing up and down the stairs.
He stuck a note on the door of apartment 16 that read,
[small]'My dad is threatening suicide if I am not on the road to Alaska by tomorrow, If I end up needing to bring him back I would like you to do me a [em]HUGE[/em] favor; I put a spare key to my apartment under you welcome mat, if I call you, I will need you to go into my apartment and finish unpacking my boxes. This will help get the apartment ready for my dad.
Thanks,
John
P.S. If you could call me at 1-(416)-738-6927, so that I have your number, that would be great.'[/small]
John placed a spare key under the mat and headed to his apartment. Inside his apartment he set his alarm clock for 4:00 a.m. and went to bed.
