I just don't see it. Aesthetically it all looks almost identical to me, the dialogue frequently seems overwrought, and poorly written, and the delivery is melodramatic at best, and cringeworthy at worst. The stories seem to never make sense to me, yet they almost always seem to feature some array of flamboyant dudes, each with their own flavor of poor fashion sense. I suppose my overall attitude can be summed up with one word, namely stale. Then, perhaps I'm being close-minded. If anyone can sway my thoughts to the contrary, I would more then welcome it.
So, are you mad because of the other thread, or is this all part of some huge troll conspiracy?

Comics aren't always about a superhero. I've seen some about police, the insane, and Kevin Smith characters just to name a few. Sure, the majority is pretty garish, but the same can be said of television and the internet.

**walks in from the Appeal of Anime thread**

Ah. I see what you did there.

In all seriousness though...
Manga - can be good, if the story is good

standard Western Comics (DC, Marvel, similar) - Ugh. I hate 50+ year continuities. Whatever they were writing in the 50s doesn't fit with what they were writing in the 60s, which gets worse in the 70s, takes an interesting turn in the 80s, only to suck in the 90s, and be totally insane and incomprehensible by the time it gets to anywhere near now.

Hand me a Sandman graphic novel by Neil Gaiman, or something else equally well written and self contained.

Also, Captcha: cannot tiorick!
Makes me wonder what tiorick is, and why I cannot...
Simple. You cannot Captcha a Tiorick. Wich a is a Legendary Fire/Water/Lightning pokemon.

For a second there it didn't occur to me that you were making a quip about the recent anime thread.
I briefly thought you didn't like animated series or films at all, and had just been trolling me in the chat all along.

OT: Yeah... so what am I supposed to say?

Awwwwe. Well, different strokes I guess. I do have to confess that a lot of the stuff in V.1 and 2 were pretty bad. Such as the arc wherein Jackie goes into witness protection. It was too contrived and the art was terrible.
Well I guess I went into it after playing the game, where they managed to distill all the plots so smoothly. I might think more fondly of it if I started with it. But seriously Jenny dating Ripclaw? It got a lot of proof of why the 90s was so bad.

Hey! I said that. I dost not relish, sir, when words are ripped from my mouth with all the ceremony of a drunkard's stagger. Though if you are, however, meaning to bite your thumb at me in duplicating my words, in an albeit sardonic manner, then, my good man, the game is afoot!
Also in response to you copy-pasted point, I shall maintain, up to and beyond the day I leave this mortal coil, that Alan Moore's From Hell is one of the greatest works of literature the 20th century has ever had the great fortune to behold.

EDIT: I do say, it feels most queer seeing people talk about me and my humble thread.

I was somewhat mocking the idea that the entirety of a MEDIUM could be gauged from what seems like a few titles kids might be watching these days. Although admittedly I don't know what you've seen exactly, I can assure you that Naruto is not the width and breadth of Japanese fiction.

Aside of that, as I've said in the thread, I'm not really biased about the format of a work or country of origin, so long as the individual work is good.

I haven't read From Hell, but I liked Watchmen and V, so I'm not biased against anything Moore related certainly (though League seems the most tempting of his other pieces).
