Well Subject RB, in Alberta there is three stages of licensing. The first is your Learner's Permit which allows you to drive with a fully licensed driver and you can get that once you're fourteen. Once you're a minimum of 16 and you've had your Learner's for a year you can go for the GDL Class 5 which allows you to drive on your own, but not past 2 am and not before 7 am. It also has a zero alcohol policy. One drop and you have a DUI. The final stage is when you're a minimum of 18, had a clean driving record and have had the license for 2 years or longer. This license gives you full rights as a driver. Since I had a couple tickets when I was 17 I had to wait until now to get my full Class 5 license. After that you have the specialty licenses from class 4 to class one if you want to go for them
