Then you beat the game and maybe some day in the future play it again if you feel like it, subject Toast. I usually never finish grinding, so I always have a reason to go back to some of my favorite RPGs.
Like my all time favorite game, Final Fantasy IX. Before I bought FF XIII, I had started FF IX for the fourth time. When I finish FF XIII, I have FF IX and a few other games to chose from to continue with.

It just feels odd to me subject Lambi when you can literally run out of things to do.

Not really subject Lambi. In most other games you can fuck around and do odd things but on RPGs you mostly just fight.

In shooters, do you do anything else then run and shoot stuff, subject Toast?
In platformers, do you do anything else then jump, double jump, punch stuff and collect stuff?

Subject Lambi in shooters I can do donuts in my car squishing anything that gets close.
On platformers. I can find new and odd ways to beat a level.

And in RPGs, you can try and use a different party or find some things you went past in previous playthoughs, subject Toast.

As I said, we were tired, subject Rex. I know there are others, like MMOs, horror and sports.

Horror can't be its own game though, it has to be paired up with another genre to work. Sports can be their own game, and that's why I consider them to be a genre, subject Lambi.

I don't accept sports as a genre because if I don't want to play sports in real life, why would I play them in video games?

And as for horror, yeah, I guess you're right. I mean, for example, Silent Hill is Survival Horror.
Or did you mean something else, subject Rex?

That's exactly what I meant, subject Lambi. You can have a straight up survival game, although most games get better with the addition of a sub-genre. As for sports, I agree, but whether I like them or not they can stand alone as a game which is why they are a genre.

They still suck, subject Rex.

Sports games, that is. Not horror. I always just say horror because I can't be bothered to name all the genres it's mixed with.
