Just came back from it. It was pretty damn good, and Mark Ruffalo really worked as Hulk, much to my astonishment.

Incidentally, does anyone know who the guy at the very end was, after the credits? I didn't recognise him. Kinda looked like Ron Perlman though.
Thanos I suspect. Infinity Gauntlet, The Mad Titan, seems like the obvious character out of any I can think of.

Also I hate Joss Whedon so much, and everyone who has seen the movie will know exactly what I mean.
I actually don't know what you mean, but I haven't read the avengers comics; did he mess with canon or something?
I dont know what hes talking about either. Really did like the 'Hulk....smash' line maybe?[/quote]
No.....

What happened in the movie that they could hate the director about?

The movie is indeed awesome.

Important note: STAY AS THE CREDITS ROLL!

Seriously, there's an extra scene that had me shouting in the cinema out of sheer surprise as my girlfriend tried to muffle me and stop my inner kid who grew up reading comics from bursting out of me like a chestburster.

THANOS! HOLY JUMPING JESUS, IT'S THANOS!

I'm definitely super stoked for this movie, I guess I gotta wait until next week to see it like pretty much everyone else.

Saw the movie a few days ago. See! I searched the Forums and will revive a thread (only a few days since last post but still) instead of making a new one! I AM A HERO!
I liked the movie, many of my friends consider IronMan being the central figure but I didn't think so.
Absolutely amazing movie, great action / comedy combinations troughout the whole 2h22min. And of course when everyone else was going out the cinema I sat there and people were watching me why I ain't moving, a guy asked me why I won't move. I replied: Did you see IronMan, Thor, Hulk and Captain America? Did you look past the ending texts? What happened? in a semy loud voice... people sat down again and I felt like a boss :D
Favorite scene for me has to be Loki / Hulk in StarTower. You petty humans, I am a god, there's nothing you can do!!!! *grabs leg and goes bananas*

So I just saw The Avengers and I enjoyed it. Really great action and mostly great cast even tho Cobie Smulders is a huge miscast. The dialogue is without a doubt the movie weak point, so much cheese and unfunny lines.

- So Erik Selvig is under the mindcontrol of Loki, gets knocked out, wakes up and basically says "I wasn't 100% under his control so I put a feature in the doomsday machine I bulid for Loki, without him knowing, that makes it useless." That's just lazy writing.

+ Bruce Banner hulking out the first time he meets the aliens (or whatever they are)

- None of The Avengers have any emotional stakes when they are fighting, all the love interests from the other movies are miles away from any action. Maybe that's a plus but for me it was kinda like "well it's just another day at the office."

+ Hawkeye runs of out arrows at one point, I really liked that.

- I know this is a PG13 movie but I think I can safely say that not one civilian dies during the final battle. Aliens shooting everything with ray guns and they only hit cars. There is even a scene where an alien couldn't kill some poor soul only 10 feet from him.

- The aliens shut off like robots and fall down when their main "ship" is blown up but at no point is that explained and we have no indication that they are like The Borg.

- Calling Hawkeye Legolas is not witty.

- The Avengers don't save the world with their powers/skills but with a nuke.

While I did really enjoy it, I fucking hated the 3D. It was dark, blury and made things out of focus for me. Never again watch a movie with post-production 3D.

I went to see it with my brother yesterday and I loved every second of it, especially Robert Downey Jr's Iron man. His quips were spot on.

It surpassed even my expectations. I watched all the other movies in chronological order so I could get the most out of the film, and I wasn't disappointed in the slightest. Joss Whedon did an amazing job, and he definitely had a lot of fun with it. Hopefully he'll direct Avengers 2, and the next Iron Man, Thor, Captain America and Hulk should keep the after-credits scenes to set up the second one.

Thanos at the end is amazing, but wouldn't it also be great if after the credits of Thor 2, you have Odin being alerted to something being stolen from the weapons vault...and it turns out to be the Infinity Gauntlet? That would be all kinds of awesome.

The script was top-notch, every character had its time to shine (for some, several), and the conflicts between the characters was done exceptionally well (which I expected from Whedon, but still).

I need an excuse to see this film again.

Which "d" (i.e 2d or 3d) did you see it in? See it in the other "d", good excuse right there.

Saw it in 3D, but the cinemas near me only seem to be showing it in 3D.
