It's not. If only my college's band was as good as the Amherst band. But the director went there, and was very good friends with George Parks, so he's trying to get the program to that level out of respect. We're at 89 people for next season. Hopefully we can get up to 100 before it starts.Heart of Darkness said:

I actually stopped doing band after high school, mainly because I was sick of it after seven years (despite being one of the best mallet percussionists in my school), and partly because my college marching band doesn't have a pit. Which kinda sucks, since marching bands without pits never sound complete...
Anyway, what did you think of my final high school marching band performance?

I was a percussion player, too, but I hate playing drums. So being on pit wasn't a big deal for me, either. Thankfully, I didn't suck. ^.^Nikki Fallingstar said:
My school wasn't small at all. We had 3,000 people at our school, and our band was close to 200 students--300 including the auxiliary. And I'm pretty sure the marching band got Superiors at every festival every year that I was there.
I prefer concert band, though, and the three years I was in wind ensemble, we got superiors. We went to state twice, and the year I didn't go to state we ended up getting an excellent. Mainly because the music sucked to play.
