Eh, they show Top Gear, Dr. Who and Russell Howards Good News.
I quite like them for that, personally.
I have still never watched Russell Howards Good News, is it worth it?
Yes, yes, a thousand times, yes. It's hilarious and just takes the piss out of the news. Plus at the end, he includes a feel good story to lift your spirits if you've had a miserable week. Check it out on the iPlayer, it's very enjoyable.

Okay here a question for you guys, wtf is this license stuff. I first heard of it when voicing my opinion on how shitty it was UK got the Doctor Who games for free but everyone else had to pay for them. It's a cable channel isn't it, so shouldn't it just be part of the monthly cable bill?

I catch BBCA and BBC World News over here in the states but I have to pay extra to catch them, is that what you guys are talking about?
No, its a terrestrial channel (I assume that's the right word). Everyone has to pay the license for it, meaning everyone moans about it, but its worth the non-bias news alone.

That's why it only airs from 7pm onwards :p. I think Three is aimed at upper teens/lower twenties with all the Essex and such programmes (or is that ITV2? I forget) but Russell Howard is pretty good.
Yeah Russell Howard is one of the few exceptions on BBC3.That Essex show is ITV

To be fair, that's probably the reason it's on BBC Three. I'm relatively sure the majority of BBC Three's hits are people using the tv as background noise during sex.
Admittedly it doesn't bother me hugely as I live in Ireland and don't have to pay the licence fee.If RTÉ(our equivalent of the Beeb)were to do the same though and launch a channel made up of 90% crap funded by our licence money then I'd be pretty pissed off

They won't let me watch iPlayer in Hungary, but to be fair I'm not paying for a license so whatever.

Given what's on BBC 3 I'd say having it on during Sex would be the best form of contraception. I can do the deed to Barry White, but never "Snog, Marry, Avoid" (co-hosted by GladOs' slaggy cousin).

Hi! This is for anyone and everyone to share their views and ask any questions about the BBC, anyone is welcom, not just British People.
Is the BBC as poor as The Goon Show made them out to be?

What they lack is a good comedy sitcom/series, the only one that exists atm is "The Inbetweeners" which is no where near as good as people make it out to be but is the best around (due to lack of competition).
You forgot the IT crowd, and Peep Show. Two Comedies on channel 4 that are vastly superior to the Inbetweeners.

I think it's worth it, even for Russell Howard. However, i pay one of the highest rates of TV licence (5.75 a week), but that's probably because I've only started paying for TV licence less than two years ago.

i don't work for the BBC, but if you turn up with some coffee and muffins or something for long enough you'll probably get a show on BBC 3

dunno, mate we don't have that over here, in britain the BBC is something like 7 or 8 tv channels and 10 or there abouts radio stations, but if you look up "BBC Americana" I'm sure you'll find it.

well, you see the BBC channels (there are more than one) aren't cable. in britain any tv anywhere can pick up BBC 1 and BBC 2 (plus a few others). instead of them being part of a bill we have to pay a TV license, which funds the BBC, as the BBC is not a private corparation.

However they also produce their fair share of shit too.The majority of the programmes on BBC3 are pure shite
That's what BBC3 is for.

Anyway, the BBC make Doctor Who, so they're awesome. End of story.

I absolutely love their documentaries. David Attenborough's voice puts me to sleep ever so gently lol.
They got Oprah Winfrey to dub over a bunch of them for the US release.

BBC is great, except they never gave BBCA the go to air K9 in the state. Assholes. Otherwise, they have great TV.
Eh, only just being shown in Australia. It being a BBC/10 co-production made in Australia. But that might be 10, same thing with H20: Just add water, except they took it off after 4 episodes anyway.
