Louis Theroux.
That is all<3.
Gotta love 'im and the awkward, 'Oh dear, I'm
far too upper class to be interviewing the likes of you' pretentious, stilted interviewing technique. If he were a cat he'd be tophat cat.
That said, Bang Goes the Theory is a top-notch show too. I love how it takes an approachable view on science and really helps energise public interest in science and projects like the Citizen Science Alliance.
Essentially, what The Beeb does well is educational stuff. What it does very poorly is non-educational stuff. Stuff like 'Outcasts' and so on that attempts to painfully mimic US TV on a very low budget.
My major bone of contention with The Beeb is the fact that it double dips: we pay to commission all of the TV it produces yet we don't have free access to the back catalogue. That's not at all cool.

A lot of people in Britain complain about having to pay their TV liscence but the fact of the matter is that the BBC take a lot of risks that channels funded by advertising would never be able to afford to. Without the BBC a lot of controvercial and/or innovative television would never be made which I think would be a shame.
Like what? They did that one play about race a few years back with the racist black teacher and they've got that documentary about assisted suicide, but I can't remember any other controversial stuff they've produce. Most the time they toe the line with cringe-worthy politically correct material.
