So, fellow Escapists, what are the most and least enjoyable boss fights of all time? Whether they be interesting from a gameplay point of view, have some crazy mid-battle cutscene, some amazing music, or are just plain gimmicky, what's the best boss fight you've ever played? And what's the just plain worst boss fight ever? Take 'best' and 'worst' to mean whatever you want, it's all about opinion.
For me, I love the Roxas fight in Kingdom Hearts II: Final Mix. Amazing music, awesome use of the reaction command, and just an all out fun fight, if a little sad.
And the worst? Maybe it doesn't even count as a boss, but I never even got to fight Dagon at the end of Oblivion. And that rankles.

Murai in Ninja Gaiden (Black).

Most bosses in most action games either succumb to button mashing or else have some kind of goofy weakness or pattern to discover. Not Murai. If you display any button mashing or lack of patience, he will punish you BRUTALLY. Just like a real fight, you have to feel him out, see what he's capable of, take a few potshots to determine his defense, and then whittle him down in a savage battle of attrition. And he's just the FIRST boss in the game :)

He served notice right from the get-go that NG was not a game to be taken lightly....

I loved fighting Mao Xing in Vampire The Masquerades: Bloodlines. It was difficult and that ***** kept spawning doubles of herself. Overall it was a lot of fun. I also really liked Omega Weapon in Final Fantasy VIII.

As far as worst the best I can say is Gi Nattak from Cosmo Canyon in FFVII.
I know in retrospect there wasn't anything really bad about that boss fight, but FFVII was my first RPG I didn't understand the concept of grinding for levels. So when I took him on at an average party level of 16 and I kept dying...Oooh I rage quit and didn't pick the game up for 2 months.

Final boss of FFIX was incredibly confusing.

My favorite boss fight was King K Rool from DKC 1 not because of the fight but because of the Music.

DKC2 was much much better overall but the final music from DKC wins it.

I cant remember what it was called, Lost Number i think but the boss in the Shinra Mansion in FFVII Used to really get to me, because i was never strong enough at first to fight it, and its gimmick of changing how it fought used to have me throwing my controller at the screen. For all the same reasons I also used to love this fight, as beating it was incredibly satisfying
